She is resourceful and skilled with mechanics due to her life working in factories and as a household servant. When her parents die, and she and her sisters are abandoned into an orphanage by their cruel uncle. To her surprise, Samantha finds and rescues them, adopting them into her family. With a new sister, and new privileges she’s never had before, Nellie tries to adjust to her new life.
