Prompt 15 - Down

The next day, after work, Remus made his way down to the gym where Sirius, Peter and James were all waiting for him like eager little puppies. 

“Remus! It’s so nice to see you again. Look, I had a water bottle made up for you!” Peter squeaked, thrusting a water bottle with the gym’s logo on it (Three animal paw prints) and his name. He grinned down at it, tracing the letters. 

“Thanks, Peter, that’s really kind of you. I promise I’ll use it.” 

“So glad you came back. We didn’t meet last time. I’m James,” James introduced himself and pulled Remus in for a hug. 

“Prongs, put him down!” Sirius exclaimed, tugging his friend off of Remus. Remus gave him a grateful smile. 

“James, mate, you can’t just hug people,” Peter chastised. 

“But Remus isn’t people; he’s family,” James pouted, and Remus felt his cheeks heat. “Oh, don’t look at me like that!” James continued when Remus, Sirius and Peter gave him sceptical looks. “Can’t you feel it?” James frowned. “Maybe we were friends in a past life? We could be friends in this one!” James said excitedly, and Peter began to steer him away. 

“If you keep acting mental like that, he’ll never come back. Ease him into your madness.”

“Sorry about them,” Sirius said once they’d disappeared. 

“No, no, it’s fine, just not used to it. My only real friend is Lily, and I sort of have one in HR at my job, but other than that…”

“I’ll be your friend!” Sirius blurted out. He quickly covered his mouth with his hands. “Sorry, that’s my inner James peeking out,” he laughed, and Remus laughed too. He could totally see it. 

“Yeah,” Remus said bravely, giving in to his wants for a change. “I’d like that.”

“Good, friends it is, though in here I am your worst nightmare,” Sirius grinned wickedly and pointed towards the changing rooms. “Go get changed. I’m about to make you wish you’d never come back.” His face softened, and he gave Remus a shy smile. “Not really, though. I am glad you gave me a second chance.”

“Me too,” Remus replied, trying his hardest not to let the enormous smile that was currently attempting to spread across his face do so and hurried off to the changing rooms, his face breaking into his widest smile yet.
