Google+ Hangout - Tuesday, March 12
Tonight we had a Google+ Hangout to talk progress, problems and plans. We were joined by our instructor Wayne, Natalie and Idil from the Social Activism team, Rubab and Alyssa from the Is it Science? team and Madeline, Rebecca and Tyler from the documentary team. We started by catching up on everyone’s progress and talking about the interviews that some of the teams have done in the last few days. Everyone is having positive experiences with their interviews – people are very nice and open to sharing their knowledge and expertise around citizen science.
We talked about ways to decrease post production work after interviews, in other words, getting everything right before the interview so we have less work to do afterwards. This includes making sure the lighting, audio and framing are right, so that the overall quality of the video is clear and easy to watch. One way to do this is to send some pre-interview notes to your interview subjects so they will be prepared. In the next week, our teams will be finalizing their elevator pitches and deciding how they’re going to transform the information and data that they’ve collected into a narrative. Tonight we talked about the different platforms we can use and bounced around the idea of using Prezi as an interactive way to display what we’ve learned. We’re looking forward to seeing what the teams come up with. More video and audio clips from interviews will be posted later this week as well. Thanks for reading, keep sharing! - Doc team
