About Cryxia
The city, that is. I'm thinking about changing the names of other parts of the setting to something that's not "Cryxia".
While I haven't drawn it this way, I swear this is the way that it is: Cryxia is a very crowded and jumbled-together mess of a city on the edge of the mountains. It is actually one of the most recently inhabited cities in the setting, but was built and abandoned long ago.
The center and slums of the city are impossible to navigate to any but those who live in them. Anyone else is likely to find themselves turned around or lost in them for quite a while. However, people that live in the slums can do amazing things with food, making the slums a perpetual tourist trap.
Cryxia is ruled by Kery, the young monarch. He isn't the most effective leader, but he has enthusiasm. Most people in town know him personally, and he considers them his friends. He's been known to shirk his responsibilities at times to go visit the town or his best friend.
In charge of the technological, scientific, and educational aspects of Cryxia is Draco. She's still not sure how she got the job, but she does something ingenious by accident every few months or so, so she stays. She still seems more inclined to go adventuring than stay in her office all day, as she sometimes disappears for weeks on end before reappearing with some new "invention" (read: some repurposed ancient artifact) and a couple battle scars.
Water is gained in Cryxia from a seemingly endless supply of fresh, pure water underneath the city. It seems as though a large crystal is its source.
There are very spacious catacombs underneath the city. Much of it has been reintegrated into the city, as storage or housing, but many remains unexplored. A system of elevators takes excited prospectors down to explore and up to the surface.
Sandstorms are rough in Cryxia's outskirts, but the city is well-built and never sways under the winds. It takes a while to sweep all of the sand off of the roads and rooftops, though.
Cryxia is close enough to the mountains for psychic storms to not be an issue.
