Yesterday was the close of Long Beach Unified's Leadership Institute. I had walked into the room with an expertly crafted keynote for this second day but did not end up delivering a single word of it. These principal's, vice-principals and administrators had questions, wanted to dialogue and express their thoughts. There are times when you're going to have to throw the plan out of the window and deal with the needs of the people in front of you.
