Maybe I'm Just Sensitive (rant, don't mind me).
I find that I'm immediately turned off of horror stories that have to do with using women as breeding machines (or really anything to do with pregnancy) for two reasons. 1.) I don't like rape and the use of womens' bodies as a mainstay for the plot of a horror story, and 2.) as a childfree person I'm annoyed when yet one more thing is about babies. This totally makes me sound like a nag, and I get it, but I just feel like horror can be conveyed without using women this way, and without having to involve "birth." I guess my disgusted reaction is just that - a reaction. "Art" is supposed to make you feel something. But I just feel like rape and breeding women to sell their babies is a vile AND lazy plot twist (especially after such a good build up). I'm specifically referencing a NoSleep episode called "Borrasca" - I think that's how you spell it, and I think it's the last episode of season 7. It's a story written by CJ Walker. I loved the build up and most of the story, and the ending was so... disappointing. It was disgusting and disappointing. If you disagree, you're welcome to. I'm just disappointed. Also, the ending felt so sudden with so many loose ends. Apparently the author has books they've written - I have no interest in reading them if that's how they end a story.
