Oliver Riot - Neurosis
This is my first demo reel I created with some of the animations I have dine last year and during the summer.
I also wanted to add in a few sketches and drawings I did over the last couple of years.
I’m hoping to add more animations and sketches to it soon and see how much my skills have improved.
Here are my character ideas for my animated film, I was originally going to go with the two to the left but i decided to change and go with a more cartoonised version to the right as this would give me more creative freedom with the running style of the dog and would also make it easier to animate.
This is a commission I did for a friends film where I had to create a map that would be used in the film. I was given the freedom to do whatever I believed would work so as their film was about a dog I made the island the shape of a dog bone and I made all of the location names link to the dog in some way.
Here I did a self portrait entirely in pen which produced an interesting challenge as it limited me in how scratchy my work could be and forced me to focus on making sure every line was correct and that there were no mistakes.
In the second picture I was doing single line drawings of my hands which was interesting as I had to make sure that the proportions were correct on the first attempt.
I quite liked both of these drawings as they both forced me out of my comfort zone which in turn helped me improve my drawing technique and my eye for details.
Here you can see my drawings of a skull from both side on and face and two different drawings of the human pelvis. The skull was fun to do as the shadows inside and outside were quite distinct which made for an interesting image. The pelvis drawings were harder as the light was more direct which produced less shadows. I also photocopied the original drawing halfway through and continued using pen and lines to try a new way of showing shape without the use of shading.
