“It’s Sky. I have to answer.” She stood up, taking her school bag with her. “Hello” she answered while passing the girls. She stopped, turned back, and grabbed the letter from Stella urgently. She heard her best friend shout at her, but she was too focused on her boyfriend’s voice to care.
“Hello Bloom.” He answered sweetly. She hesitated for a second.
”I.... I got your mother’s letter.”
“Yes. She called me yesterday and told me about it.”
“And what do you think about it?”
“Hey! I should be asking the questions!” He laughed. “I want to know how you feel about going home with me.”
“Well, I didn’t have time to think about it.”
“Can you come out to the front? It’s better to talk about it face to face.”
“Of… Of course. I’m almost there.”
Bloom put her phone back in her bag and hurried up. She didn’t know what to answer. She could not process the letter. Biting on her bottom lip, she thought once again about the invitation, about what her friends had told her. Did the queen really go out of her way to invite her? Was it a sort of trap? The queen had to have a plan, right? It could not be that easy? Bloom was getting paranoid.
Every time they met, Bloom had done something wrong, or something wrong happened. All Bloom wanted was to meet Sky’s family, have a nice dinner, and talk to them, just like Sky had done when he visited her family.
Once she was out of the main building, she spotted Sky not far from her. He was still sitting on his wind-rider. She could see some girls pointing at him. Bloom couldn't blame them. He looked extremely hot in his uniform. She still couldn’t believe it. This man was all hers.
When they had met, she had instantly fallen for his blue eyes and his sweet smile. He was a smart and cute guy who she could be herself with. He reminded her a little bit of the guys on earth.
Most guys here thought Bloom was a weirdo just because she was so different from others. Her fashion style was drastically different. She had refused to change the way she dressed when she started studying at Alfea. She also refused to adopt any kind of “Magix” hairstyle. She preferred her hair the way it looked. Stella had told her many times that her bangs were really weird, but it was how her hair was naturally.
While other guys would make fun of her, Sky never judged her. At first, she thought he was just being very nice, but learning that he was a prince, she quickly realized that because he had known so few “normal” people, he didn’t feel entitled to criticize her. His own hairstyle was very different. He had told her it was kind of how princes were supposed to look. She hadn’t believed him because no other prince at school looked like that. Then, he explained to her that his family was rather conventional and extremely old-fashioned. She could understand that.
Learning that he was a prince had also changed how she perceived him. The way he carried himself, the way he talked, the way he thought. It made way more sense now that she knew he was soon to be king. At first, she had been impressed by his manners and how good he was at everything he did. Once again, it was expected of him to be this way. Be successful. Be kind. Be smart. Be everything! She worried about him sometimes. Did he have time to be himself? Luckily, her worry never lasted long. She could spot the difference between when he was with random people and when he was with his friends or with her.
She heard her name and snapped out of her daydream. She realized she had been staring at him for a good minute. She dropped her head down, hiding her face with her hair, and got closer. She hearer him laugh sweetly. Once she was close enough, she felt his fingers on her hands. She looked down at them. They were preying open her fingers on the shoulder strap of her bag. She looked up at him. He took one of her hands in his, and with his other hand he took the bag off her shoulder and put it on his wind-rider. When it was secured on it, she felt him pull her into his arms. Both his arms enveloped her waist. She felt safe, there, tugged in his chest, her head resting on his muscular torso. It always amazed her how tall he was. Not taller than Riven, but still, the man was very tall for a seventeen years old boy. She knew he would only grow more in the following years and she loved that! Bloom was not considered tall at all. Stella was the tallest one, she looked like a model. Flora and Bloom were way shorter.
After a few minutes, Sky finally talked.
“So… We may have to talk before you go to class and I go to my training.”
“You don’t usually have training on Fridays…”
“I don’t, you are right.” He said, breathing out. “But, hum, General Elijah had a meeting with Codatorta last week and he asked that I be trained a little bit more.” Sky explained while rubbing the back of his neck.
“You already work so hard.”
“Well, thankfully, I’m not alone. Brandon trains with me, and sometimes Timmy and Riven join us. So, it is not that bad. It feels like regular practice.”
Bloom nodded. She still didn’t know what to say. It was so sudden. She didn’t know what she wanted. Sky could see how troubled she looked. He had guessed she would feel this way when his mother told him what she had done.
At first, Sky had freaked out. This was a very big deal. Bringing Bloom with him meant being official. They were still on a very fragile balance after everything that happened between them in two years. He did not know if going back home with her would help. However, he remembered the night of the party at Red Fountain. He remembered how she had acted. How all she wanted was to be with him, even if his parents were there. How she did not care if people saw them together. How hurt she was when he could not figure out who he had to be with, to dance with, to save… How broken she looked that night, at the infirmary. She had not talked to him for weeks! He had begged for forgiveness, again. He remembered how much he had missed her. How worried he was at the new year party. They had managed to talk a little bit, but Bloom had still been cold with him.
But then, everything changed because of Darkar. They still hadn’t talked about the main issues. They both were bad at communication. Sky was a master when it came to leading. He was a future king after all. Bloom was also great at leading. She had naturally become the leader of her group during missions. But Merlin, they were bad at talking to each other. Bloom had been afraid of his final choice. Sky had been afraid she would make a choice for both of them.
She was still in his arms when Sky spotted the letter in her bag. He tucked Bloom’s hair away from her face and asked if he could take a look at it. She nodded again and he smiled.
“Don’t pressure yourself too much. You still have until tonight to think about it.”
“I know. But, I really don’t know what to think about it. On the one hand, I would love to be with you. On the other hand, I’m scared I might not fit in the whole surrounding.”
“You do not have to worry about that. Where we are going, it is very different from the palace.”
“I don’t even know what the palace looks like. I mean, I do, we went when Diaspro was kidnapped, but I wish you could had shown me more.”
“That is an easy problem to solve. I mean, if you decide to come.”
“Well, maybe... Where are we going if not the palace?”
“In the south. We have a mansion there. It is way smaller than the palace. It is where my mother grew up. Where I spend most of my childhood too. I love this place. It is way more intimate. Smaller. Beautiful. There would be barely anyone else.”
“What about the whole servant thing?”
“The ones there are the servants from my mother’s family. Very little crew, really. Maybe ten people.”
“Well, your family are royals… I don’t even know what to expect really!” She slowly got off his embrace and looked him in the eyes. “I have to go to class, but I promise you I will think about it! Come back after you are done with your day?”
“I will.” He said and kissed her goodbye.
The rest of the day, Bloom was not able to focus. Thankfully, being the good student that she was, she managed to pretend as of she was listening when Paladium asked her to repeat what he had just said. She kept the letter secured in her bag.
During her last class, she was re-reading the letter when she heard a horrible outcry shot throughout the classroom, even the professor cringed at the sound. Bloom looked up to see Griselda glaring at her, her hands on her skinny hips. The woman had bent down over Bloom's desk right after Bloom tried to hide the piece of paper. Griselda sent her to miss Faragonda’s office without hesitating. Her friends had laughed a little bit at her. It was bound to happen at some point. Bloom had been daydreaming all day long.
Once in the office of the headmistress, Bloom sat down anxiously. She didn’t know what to say.
Should she tell her what the letter was about? That was private.
Even though she respected and thrust her, she could not bring herself to tell miss Faragonda that she was planning on going on a trip with her boyfriend. Bloom was an overthinker, and being close to a prince made it worse. There were so many rules to abide by…
By the time she was out of the office, Miss Faragonda had scolded her for her lack of focus in classes and had wished her some good rest.
She joined Flora in the gardens and they spent the rest of the day taking care of some of Flora’s projects and studying in the sunlight. It felt nice. Bloom had been able to think about something else than the damn letter. She had made her choice by the end of the day.
The sun was setting when Bloom closed a history textbook. Flora had left minutes ago to take a shower and get ready for dinner. Bloom texted Sky her position for when he would come by. No answer yet, but she was not in a hurry. Putting her chin on her pile of books, she looked at the forest near.
She had chosen to follow Sky. She was offered a very good chance to grow close to him and his mother. She had to jump on the opportunity. She knew Diaspro was never too far, so she had to do something.
Going there was going to put her in a difficult spot, but as long as she had Sky by her side, everything would be fine. Going back with him would show how serious they were. After two years, they needed to take another step in their relationship.
There you go for the second part. I'm sorry for the long wait, I had forgotten about this ff. Truly sorry. The following chapters will be shorter. They will take place directly on Heraklion. I have at least seven planned out.
