Hi. I wanted to say i admire your charater and also the shipkid design you make of ut au charaters. Its honestly looks so sick!.
But im curious to know what exatcly their relationship with their parents are like? Such as is hysteria, cato or other shipkid every speak or talk with their parents?
Are they in bad terms or good terms with them?
hello! im honored, thank you for showing interest and support for my shipkids. im always very eager to share lore of them! note that my story is still in development, so nothing is exactly concrete and may or may not change in the future! Also sorry if the drawings get a bit lazy towards the end
this will be a long list considering i did most of them, i hope you don't mind the info dump:
for both Grime and Hunter, they are one of the few shipkids who share the same "variant" parent, that being Horror. Grime and Hunter were both surrendered by their parents via coercion from Horror, so neither child ever technically met their parents. Grime and Hunter dont have a relationship with either of their original parents; never attempted to contact, meet or even think abt them. This reinforced their unhealthy codependence on each other as half siblings
as for Hysteria... her relationship with her father is. complicated. They were never really "close", barely even acknowledged each other's presence. Her "variant" of Nightmare kept her around for Killer's sake, as a child they saw her as a tool for their dirty work. Hysteria saw both her fathers as nothing more than authoritative figures in her life... but that doesn't mean she didn't love them at some point. Anyways, long story short; NM and Hysteria got into a battle of dominance. Hysteria, being the sly, dangerous and cunning woman she is. Was able to trick Killer into successfully sealing NM away in her pendant for her. As to what happened to Killer afterwards... remains a mystery!
TW: blood/cannibalism
Skinner's relationship with his parents as a child was practically nonexistent, bc of how neglectful his "variants" were. Dust and Killer were not suitable parents at the time and were going through a fight. Skinner was an illegitimate/unplanned child and in their eyes, stained their already broken family. At some point, Skinner was left to starve for too long and soon grew to have a taste for bones after ingesting bits of himself. Eventually he fled his home as a child going off on a cannibal spree and honing his "hunting" skills in the process. It was only recently that he decided to meet his parents again after years of no contact, managed to track one of them down, and ate Dust as revenge for his failed upbringing. He felt no remorse.
Sins' mother, Chapel, died giving birth to him. This was due to Chapel's cursemark inflicting punishment on him for violating his holy soul, he was given the option of life for him or his baby and ultimately chose his baby. Their variant of Nightmare (NOT shared with Hysteria) was the leader of a variant group of "Bad Sanses" and they manipulated, used, and later abandoned Chapel after learning of his pregnancy. Nightmare never visited Chapel after he passed, and he never thought to look for his child either. Sins vowed to search for their father and demand the truth of Chapel. Only until after it heard his side of the story, will he judge and decide the fate of Nightmare. Till this day, their paths have never crossed.
Order never had a real connection with their parents despite his variants being a genuine loving and kind couple. it was almost impossible for him to love them back even if they were nice, too nice, almost unrealistic. because of their unattachment to Ink and Error, it was easy for both his Ying and Yang halves to come to their first agreement and terminate those versions of them. since then, Order grew a distain for variants and the multiverse's growing infestation of variants. although they long to meet the original versions Ink and Error someday
Vision and Fantasía share the same Dream parent, who happens to be the original Dream (all will be explained someday!). however, unlike their sister, Vision didn't grow up with Dream and was one of the first orphans surrendered to 'The Nursery'. {The Nursery is an alternate dimension hidden away somewhere in the multiverse that can only be accessed through one of it's 3 creators, it's used to care for/hide 'Shipchildren' around the multiverse.}
Vision was groomed and chosen to be a successor for Dream by the nursery Custodians in place of Dream's absence. This led Vision to often idolizing an ideal version since they couldn't often cross paths due to their conflicting jobs. You'd think Dream is a stranger considering how they speak and know little to nothing regarding each other. As for Cross, he was contracted to never come near Vision for both their sakes.
Fantasía the first born was lucky enough to grow up with her father Swap, a variant who traveled alongside Dream before she was born. Swap guided her through most of her fruitful life within his respective universe and Dream would stop by frequently to help nurture her powers but would never commit to staying. She was very close to her parents for years and still is but only recently chose to distance herself from them for personal reasons. This caused an even further strained relationship with her younger sibling, Vision. They don't get along very well. Fantasía still keeps in contact with Dream sometimes due to their related affairs.
Violet grew up in a rather loving, comforting simple life. Both variants of his fathers reside in a peaceful Swaptale where monsters were freed from the underground and now live on the surface. His relationship with his parents is rather normal, he loves them and they love him back. Unfortunately, Violet isn't too fond of his simple life and after graduating HS was having arguments left n right with his parents abt what he should do. the right (old art) piece shows a bit of the conflict they would have regarding Violet attempting to let himself get recruited for the Houndzars. He still maintains a rather ordinary relationship with his parents and still frequently talks to them, despite the recent distance.
Seam also grew up in The Nursery, never met or came in contact with their parents. Till this day, his variants Error and Swap remain a mystery. He lived a rebellious lifestyle and was constantly monitored by one of the Custodians prior to his escape. As a child and even now, Seam never seemed to care abt meeting his parents. He couldn't care for any authoritative figures in his life and hated being told what to do, its a reason why Seam wont ally himself with anyone or group.
Cato never talks abt what his relationship with his family was like, nor does he want to. But i will tell you regardless :D! Cato's variant parents were mutually toxic towards each other and their family, they only stayed together for "the children". He was only ever close to Geno despite him frequently giving them a cold shoulder. Cato being the eldest of his siblings was parentified due to the irresponsibility of Reaper and Geno. Cato was the last person to see Geno alive years ago, and cut off all communication with his siblings and father since.
Fins is really chill with their parents! They also had a pretty regular sweet childhood and are on great terms with both their variants of Swap and Horror. Fins was actually incredibly spoiled rotten by their permissive parents and still lives with them currently
Ambrose was surrendered to the The Nursery by a variant Toriel after Jane (oc) failed to show up on the day of his birth. Jane was aware of Ambrose's existence but never bothered to come in physical contact with him and unbeknownst to him spent her time watching him grow up from afar. After only recently learning abt Jane's existence from accumulating as much information as he could, he escaped The Nursery in search for her. Ambrose's intentions were left unclear as well as his feelings for his parents and upbringing.
And finally, Minx is also really cool with her parents! She still currently lives with both variants; Swap and Lust in Underlust and owns her own studio within the universe! She became a popular pole dancer with the coaching from Lust as well as support from Swap and opened up her own business where she's a bartender currently. She occasionally still dances but more as a private hobby now. She had a great upbringing and loving parents and they continue to support and cherish her till this day.
I hope this answered your question! thank you for reading if you made it this far 💐
Ello im curious can we get glimpse of what ethostale look like?
Ethostale's surface takes place somewhere in the 1960's, the underground itself had a futuristic setting. Their technology exceeded the humans by far but were sealed before said technology could reach their hands. As most undertale stories go, Frisk's route ended in a pacifist one leading the monsters to freedom to the surface. In turn, bringing their technological advances to the rest of the world and advancing humanity.
Frisk, eventually grew up and continued their advances towards the future alongside Alphys and Sans for years, accidentally coming acrros a gateway to the multiverse in the process. This alerted the likes of Ink and Core!Frisk. Ethos!Frisk assured both Ink and Core that they had no ill intentions other than expanding their world and wanting to help people across the multiverse. Ink disapproved of their proposal initially, but through convincing from Ethos!Frisk their gateway to the multiverse was left open.
Which leads us to the current state of Ethostale:
As it stands, the universe itself currently is a sanctuary for variants across the multiverse with the tone that of a retirement home. They still retain their 60's futuristic fashion aesthetic despite the years that have passed, their technology though is a lot more modern. Jane as well as the rest of the Houndzards currently reside there, Violet only recently joined after being recruited which led to Jane touring him around.
The city where they reside as well as where the story takes place in Ethostale shares an influenced mixture of New York, Vegas and Tokyo but is otherwise a fictional City.
