Claiden:
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Background: Claiden wasn’t a lucky person, not even his birth had to grace to be normal, due multiple failures in both medical equipment and medical professionals, both of his parents died forcing him to spend the start of his life moving around from family to family until he was of age, forcing him to live on the streets for a few years until he managed one of his first lucky breaks which consisted of him getting a job that barely got him enough money to rent a room to get off of the streets but that was where it ended. Unfortunately, one day while he was heading home from work, he was knocked unconscious and kidnapped for reasons unknown to him.
Unknown to him, during his birth one of Death’s emissaries saw the events unfold and gained a special interest in seeing how his life would move on from then. Unfortunately, their unknown presence caused many problems for him, mostly in the form of the unease those near Claiden felt. This caused an extreme religious faction to suspect him of consorting with an opposing faction and kidnapping him and torturing him for information. This ended up with him beginning toeing the line between life and death and caused him to see the emissary who has been following him. Unbeknownst to him, Death’s emissaries aren’t allowed to consciously affect the living unless it involves rogue phantoms, so the emissary could do nothing except watch Claiden’s destiny unfold in front of him and talk to him to try to sooth the pain. That lasted until after one particularly brutal session when they snapped and broke his vow, saving Claiden’s life and taking him with them and escaping the faction’s base.
After escaping the faction’s lair there still was a few problems, Claiden still had to leave town so he wouldn’t be caught again, and the emissary had to go on trial. Bringing Claiden with them, the emissary went towards their trial. Fortunately, due to a condition of Claiden’s, he wasn’t considered a living being due to his destiny being altered and so it was decided that Claiden would enter training to become another one of Death’s emissaries.
Personality:
Claiden was never a happy person even before the foster families started playing hot potato with him, he was quiet and shy, something further enforced due to not being able to form any lasting relationships, causing him to take such relationships for granted in the future. He has difficulty relating to people on a personal level due to thinking about all the ways they “hate” him, causing him to stutter around others or even not speaking his mind at all.
His time spent homeless was another blow to his mental health, causing him to hide even more into his “shell” and start to pick up harmful habits to cope with his problems.
When he finally managed to get a job, he was ecstatic and started making plans for his future, he started to become hopeful about his life and started taking care of himself.
After his kidnapping and rescue, he took a turn to the worst and fell back on harmful habits, he started to lash out towards those who wanted to help him. He started losing sleep because of his nightmares, he started getting startled from loud noises and would breakdown when he was reminded of his kidnapping.
During his time training towards becoming an emissary he started seeing someone who helped him deal with all of his life’s baggage, trading his harmful habits for helpful ones and to hopefully one day get better.
