Ahuska and Crow: 8, 11, 21, 25
OTP ASKS, CLAN CROW EDITION
8. What were their first impressions of each other?
Ahuska was very immediately struck by the way Crow smiled at her, unexpectedly smitten in a very ‘youthful crush’ kind of way but never dreaming that anything would come of it (for the first couple of weeks, anyway). She also saw a total contrast to the rest of the clan’s new recruits in him that just stood out in her eyes; he wasn’t the young, swaggering warrior full of bravado that the others were, all clamouring for position under the Alor. He was a bit older, a bit more experienced, and cared a whole lot less about what others thought of him, which just made Ahuska think about him a whole lot more.
As far as Crow’s impression of her though?? I’m not sure it went too much further than ‘wow she’s cute huh’ in the beginning, hah. Maybe the way that she was obviously terrified to be put up in a sparring match against him by the bosses, but went through with it anyway, and somehow managed to keep smiling despite winding up with a thoroughly bruised snout, also left an impression.
11. What causes them to fight?
Not much at all! Honestly, these two are really good at recognising when the other might be about to lose their temper and finding ways to de-escalate the situation. That said, one of the sorest points for Ahuska is probably Crow’s lack of commitment to the Mandalorian culture, and not even so much for his part as when it comes to his daughter (and Ahuska’s by adoption, which is as good as blood as far as she’s concerned) Nela. When one of the core tenets is ‘raise your children as Mandalorians’ and Nela is so plainly not, Ahuska does sometimes wonder if it’s a failing on her part to not try and impress the culture upon Nela more. It’s difficult, since Nel is on the cusp of being a grown independent adult anyway, and Ahuska wasn’t present for the majority of her life. She doesn’t reject the culture outright; Ahuska made sure she has a set of armour, and helps her practice the language as much as possible, but it’s plain as day that Nela identifies more with her affinity to the Force than to Mandalorian culture. It hurts Ahuska, quietly, but she’d never actually bring it up, and she’s deathly worried she’d wind up saying things that would push Nela and Crow away if it did.
21. How have they changed each other for the better/for the worse?
Crow gave Ahuska a reason to actually start living outside of her comfort zone, made her believe she could make more of herself than the humble, inobtrusive little life she thought she was always destined to see through. She has had moments where she’s stopped and looked at herself and been a little nervous of just exactly how hard and merciless she now knows she can be; this side of her definitely is a result of getting wrapped up in Crow’s life, but not really his influence as such. If anything, he’s been there to help her stay grounded and rein it in when she starts going a little too far.
Meanwhile, Ahuska gave Crow a reason to keep living at all. He never told her until a long, long while after the fact, but the only reason he’d signed on with the clan in which they’d met in the first place was to make sure Nela wouldn’t wind up left alone when he met what he thought was his inevitable end.
(She’s also definitely made him more tolerant of animals, though he might argue that that change is not necessarily one ‘for the better’.)
25. What moves do they know work on the other?
Let’s just say Ahuska is exceptionally aware of how fond Crow is of her butt, and Crow knows that Ahuska goes all heart-eyes when he shows off with his blaster. And if one or the other happens to throw down a fluffy wampa skin rug in front of a fire then the night is pretty well spoken for!
Scientism (wip)
Clan Crows superior intellect has led most of them to shun the belief in deities, solely beliving that Science will be their salvation. Amongst Clan Crow there are Tinkerers, Alchemists and Mad Scientists.
Tinkerer Birds of great intellect and even greater imagination. From gadgets to constructs.
Fills the roles of Tank and Damage dealer
Alchemy Through elixirs and transmutation the Alchemist can heal and empower themselves and others. Their many days spent pondering the universe has led them back to belief in deities, understanding the cycle. The Islands other Clans worship of Beira allows only winter, contrastly they believe worship of Angus (Summer) is the correct path. They strive to purify their souls.
Fills the roles of Healer and Damage dealer
Mad Scientist Taking aspects from both the Tinkerer and the Alchemist the Mad Scientist believes he is the true creator. Bringing about living things that should not be, limbs of a Gull on the body of a Crow! Experimenting on himself and others.
Fills the roles of Healer, Tank and Damage dealer
