My random thoughts about Iron Lung after finally seeing it yesterday:
I had the theater to myself. Not a single other person in there so it was pretty epic. Like watching a movie at home.
It was cool how it got right into the action. No build up just "Hey this guy is down in the blood ocean already and he's already cooked". Also I locked tf in when the narrator started talking
I don't see how any part of it was a "slow-burn" as some people critiqued it to be. The pacing was great and there's always something going on. Even the montages of Simon charting out the map and steering didn't feel like a drag. I felt tense FOR him trying to find his way around.
I forgot when this exactly happened but there's a split second scene where the camera pans to the outside of the submarine and the Eel is right freaking there. And the part where it sees Simon through the porthole he forgot to close had me like "omg"
Dunno if anyone has pointed out how the cracks in the porthole window look like a tree but it was an interesting detail (foreshadowing amiright)
The occasional whispers throughout the movie lowkey spooked me bc I thought somebody else was in the theater with me. Like I genuinely looked towards the exits thinking I wasn't alone 😅 That's what you call great sound design
Yeah. Peak movie and I'm happy I got to see it in theaters before it leaves 🙏🙏
