I’m still trying to find a song that can represent the Sarenae Empire. Infact, I have actually been debating about making my own song.
So far this song seems to match the most with what I’m looking for. It’s a bit long, but it’s also one of my favorite songs as well.
If I plan to make a song for the Empire, It’d probably be in F major. I don’t think it’s at the point where it’s evil enough to be put into a minor key, and I also really like F major (since I’m pretty sure the song I just linked below is in F major, either that or it’s C major since I can’t tell if there’s a B flat in there or not)
I’m really tired and I don’t have a lot of time but I would just like to add that the only reason why Salamanca doesn’t have a mate is because she is aromantic and asexual and she does not want a relationship at all.
In my previous post about the Sarenae Empire, I went over flags and symbols. For those of you who don’t know, the Sarenae Empire is split into 2 territories and one district. The two territories, Staamegon and Okanagan, are tied in loosely with the Sarenae Empire, and they have tweaks that make them unique. Here is a small comparison of details that make the territories unique from each other and the district.
The Sarenae District
Government: Dictatorship
Location: Located between the two large territories, Staamegon and Okanagan, the Sarenae District is the heart of the Empire. It contains the two largest cities, Caledon and Sayomi, and also contains the majority of the population of the Sarenae Empire.
Both Caledon and Sayomi are located in strategic locations, both cities are on the Argentum mountain range. They both provide military support to the territories and protect the rest of the inner ring, which holds most of the food and military supplies in the Empire.
Symbols: The maple leaf, the hawk (familiar)
How it interacts with other territories: Since the Sarenae district is very small, and it is mostly cities and farm land, the creatures who live within the district view the two territories as “dangerous”, and assume the people who live there are “savages”. Arctic foxes and timber wolves are not greeted nicely as a result of this.
Staamegon Territory
Government: Anarchy (Staamegon Anarchy)
The difference between regular anarchy and Staamegon anarchy is that there are regulations for purchasing, selling, and building in the territory. However, no one leads this, and it is simply followed by everyone in the clan as it has always been a normal thing.
Location: On the northwest end of the Sarenae Empire, Staamegon controls some of the highest peaks of dragonkin. The Boreas Mountain range covers the majority of the area, with the high mountain peaks dazzling the view for “valley cities” (such as the village of endo kakuzo)
The majority of Staamegon’s population lives in the mountain peaks, far away from the Sarenae district.
Symbols: The snowflake, the snow leopard (familiar)
How it interacts with the other territory/district: Staamegon is by far the oldest out of the two, and most of the cities such as Staamegon and Boreas are extremely old, as they were the first settlements. Most residents have ties with the first settlers, as they have adapted to the cold, harsh winters a long time ago. As a result of this, they consider themselves very strong, burly, and “the first” to arrive. They view the district dwellers as lazy ignorant beings with absolutely no respect for history. As for Okanagan, they have no views on them, except they generally try to stay away from each other due to mixed conflicts (mostly between kitsunes and wolves).
Okanagan Territory
Government: Anarchy (not Staamegon Anarchy)
Location: Okanagan happens to sit on the opposite side of Staamegon territory, and it is southwest from the Sarenae district. The landscape mostly consists of mountains and pine trees, and the occasional lake or stream.
There are a few small cities in Okanagan, most of them are your stereotypical log cabin styled cities (RL example: Lake Placid). The largest city is Red Deer, and even then that is one of the smallest cities in the Empire.
Symbols: The pine tree
How it interacts with the other territory/district: Okanagan’s official language is wolven, so it is very hard for the others (which speak draconic) to communicate with Okanangan. There are mixed ties with Staamegon, mostly because of the large kitsune population that dwells there. The Sarenae district is viewed as weird and strange, mostly because the villagers of Okanagan do not have experience with large cities.
I might write more lore tomorrow if I have more time, we’ll see...
saren-ch The Empire’s name seems friendly, right? I’ll admit that Salamanca can be nice, but she rarely goes out of her way to help others if it doesn’t affect the clan in any way.
Oh and for the summoning part, she summoned them as spirits using positive and negative energy.
My headcanon on shamans is that when they get their calling, they choose which purpose they want to undertake: Either bringing justice to their deity by wreaking havok (negative energy) or healing the clan and strengthening others (positive energy). However, there’s the rare case that the shaman chooses both of these options and can therefore harness both.
Salamanca in my lore chose both, which is why she’s ‘overpowered’. Technically she can summon, heal, and hurt others as she wishes. It takes a toll on her energy, however, and she gains her energy by meditating (hence why she sits on her throne all the time)
I know that’s not really how shamans work, but let’s just say they do work that way in the Sarenae Empire :p
Alright, this is sort of an idea that I’ve had for a while but I’m not necessarily sure if this is the route I want to go, but instead of the clan being replaced by another one after alpha, the clan happens to be revived by a mysterious shaman.
Eventually Salamanca gets sick due to all of the negative energy that she possesses (for using evil magic that hurts, not heals) As a result, she dies on her throne, and the negative energy in her corpse leaks into the ethereal world and the real world.
When Cieryas, one of the shamans, finds her dead in her throne, he notices the corrupt air around the castle. As a result, he orders the castle to be abandoned, worried that if someone stayed in the castle too long they could go insane.
Sometime later (right before the end of alpha), the Sarenae Empire collapses due to a widespread illness. With the Empire being left in ruins, wilting flowers, and the castle being abandoned, there was nothing that seemed appealing to other creatures that roamed on the territory.
Fortunately, right before the start of the game, a mysterious traveler arrives. Her copious amounts of shaman pouches indicate that she’s a shaman from a far away clan.
When the mysterious traveler reaches the massive castle and finds the silver throne, she notices Salamanca’s corpse, which rotted to the point where it was nothing but bones. Instantly, the shaman knows that the castle is haunted.
The traveler begins her ritual placing strange objects around to form a circle. After she places the objects in the correct places, she starts to chant a strange tune, one that only a necromancer would know.
In a flash, Salamanca’s bones begin to rattle. The castle shakes with wild spirits rushing to be revived.
The mysterious necromancer, however, was very wise. Being uninterested in the clan, the necromancer simply revived every soul, including Salamanca, granted that they would only be able to interact with clans at night.
The souls are naturally pitch black to help them blend in. In the day, they hide away under shady areas. At night, they attack other clans.
There are several ranks in the Sarenae Empire, most of them are pretty straight-foward.
Each and every member has a place in the Empire. While the majority of them are knights, some of them are shamans or farmers. Young clan members are given a trial to see if they are fit enough for the military. If they succeed, they join. If they fail, they are left with two options: join the agriculture industry or the mining industry. This is the reason why dragons, above all else, tend to be more involved with the military.
Here is the list that goes from the most influence on the clan to the least.
Salamanca was able to trace back where Clan Sakura originated by using the scrolls. Fortunately, their territory was on the edge of dragon and kitsune territory, slightly east from Salamanca’s settlement. Being greedy, Salamanca summoned more creatures to her aide to rebuild the massive Empire, especially since the volcanic eruption destroyed a lot of life. The new territory founded is separate from Staamegon, and will be called Okanagan.
There will now be two different territories, Staamegon (Stah-meh-gon) Territory and Okanagan (o-kan-ah-gan) - however, they will both be ruled by the Sarenae (Sar-en-ay) Empire - aka Salamanca’s Empire.
These two territories have separate flags, separate favored familiars, and separate icons.
