Wow. We have known that this was coming for over a year now yet I still can not wrap my head around it. It feels unreal and all day I have been hoping that it was just another bad dream. I was introduced to TvD/TO by an ex-coworker. The shows came up randomly when I mentioned how much I enjoyed the vampire and supernatural genre. So one graveyard shift (11pm-7am) I decided to give the shows a chance. Below is my personal experience with the show as a fan.
I started with Originals first. I was completely lost and quickly decided it wasn’t for me after only two episodes. The DVDs were placed on my book-shelf not knowing when or if ever I would watch them again. So I started Vampire Diaries. I was liking that show more so I stayed with it. When Klaus was introduced I immediately thought he was a spoiled asshole. He was definitely the villain in my story. However, when Elijah came into the picture I liked him even less (seriously that hair was horrible!). To me he was a poorly guided soul with an over exaggerated since of familiar duty. This point was driven home when he saved Klaus over his promise to Elena. Needless to say I was rooting for team Elena. The only saving grace was Rebekah and Kol. I liked how they just did not mindlessly follow the ‘Always and Forever’ mantra So with this in mind I gave Originals another chance.
As soon as their backstories were explained I began to understand why the Mikaelson siblings were the way they were. Also Elijah’s character was a bit more well rounded. He was loyal to Klaus yet he would not hesitate to tell him when he was wrong. I also began to fall for his love story with Hayley. It was so pure. As the story progressed I was hooked, I even liked Klaus and felt for him. I was officially hooked and was in it for the long haul.
Flash forward 8 years, I am both an Elijah and Hayley Rper. I have also become a new mother this past year. A lot has changed in my life (good and bad), but I tend to think on some of the morals of this show. It has helped get me through some of the most trying parts of my life. I also got to meet Charles Davis in 2016 at a con and he is one of the sweetest people that I have ever had the pleasure to meet. I am getting a tattoo at the end of the year of a wolf and her pup in honor of my son. Below them I will have ‘Always and Forever’ because nothing means more to me than my family and friends.

@standaloneagainstourdemons- You were my Hayley’s first Klaus. You were willing to listen to me rant on nonstop about my pregnancy and were genuinely excited when my son was born. There are no words to describe how much I care about you. I am looking forward to interacting with you more and I am sorry that we haven’t talked much lately.
@lucyxwestenra - The only OCs that I really felt Elijah had a connection with. Thank you so much, love!
@biscuitswithtea- It all started with a random, unsure rp of Elijah/Gia. on my part. To be honest I was not really a big fan of them originally because she was taking him away from Hayley. However, I gave it a chance and boy am I glad that I did. Taking that one leap turned into a friendship that I treasure greatly. So happy to call you a friend and now room mate.
