well, compared to the others, kimberly’s story is different
she didn’t lose anybody
nothing tragic happened to her
what happened to kimberly is something she brought on herself by being a bully
(because is she a bully?)
so sometimes, she just doesn’t feel like she belongs with these people
she looks at billy and wonders what she did to deserve his friendship
because he’s so good, and so pure, and so strong, and she’s... nothing
she looks at jason and sees what might have happened to her if she’d gone one step further, and she sees the burden he carries, and hates that he wants to carry her as another burden
she looks at zack and can’t relate to being that selfless, wonders if she even has it in her
she looks at trini and finds her so brave, to wake up every day and survive a family that doesn’t understand her
but then what is kimberly hart?
she did a terrible thing. i won’t sugarcoat it. she screwed up, really badly.
so if she’s a terrible person, what is she doing as a ranger
for the others, they were born to be a ranger because they needed that, needed to be part of something bigger than them
for kimberly, she was born to be a ranger for redemption
a chance to prove that the person she became because she was pretty and popular wasn’t who she was supposed to be
a chance to prove that she could be selfless, that she could put others before herself
she would die for billy, die in his place
being a ranger for kimberly was a chance to build her best self out of her worst self
and prove that just because you lose yourself, you become someone you hate seeing in the mirror
that doesn’t mean you can’t be better
