Season 2 put the veneer of civility on the delusions of depression, which in a way matches the way depression whispers subtly into your ear, telling you to think just a little bit differently than you should, a little bit more, until you’re so deep in the shadows you can’t see anything real anymore.

6obby doesn’t make emo rap in the sense that it sounds like some old Myspace band with trap drums. 6obby makes emo rap in the sense that you can feel real emotion in every bar he spits, and in every beat he chooses to rap on. This music isn’t emo for the sake of a trend or aesthetic, it’s emo because he’s pouring everything he feels out onto the track, and I think that’s where the real value lies in the trending sub genre. If you’re looking for some music that’s gonna make you really feel, at least if you can relate to his specific brand on teenage angst, “Clarity.” might be the project for you.
