Perhaps, but like, why should he care? Literally no Herondales were alive to personally mean anything to him. They're all so irrelevant to him, what does he owe the name? Cassie even mentioned that even if Jace didn't become a Herondale or didn't have children, the name had potential to carry. So like... it feels really unneeded to me. And I mean, I get Jace's personal reasons. The Clave forced him into it, essentially, and I don't blame him very much. I don't feel like Jace was, ultimately, given enough of a choice, which sucks for him
