Can we talk about how artists are incorrectly representing/drawing characters who are literally supposed to be from 

A) different races

or

B) different religions

or even

C) different classes (urban or rural)

*hint to all the people who draw Zootopia’s main characters(as humans) as both being white with no other indication of differences than hair color*

Because seriously, Zootopia was about getting over specie-ism, and the real world equivalent is racism, class-ism, and Religious discrimination.

You know, I can take all the shitty customers, some of which adamantly refuse to show me their identification in order to buy alcohol, while simultaneously pointing their wrinkly hands at their gray roots coming into their obvious dye job and harshly voicing their age at me, I can take it when customers are outraged that their bill is more than they expected even though I’m not the one who put all of those groceries in their cart, I can handle being scolded by superiors for not being fast enough, not being friendly enough, not subscribing to the belief that the customer is 100% always right because I know that a LOT (not all) but a lot of people are simply pricks. But what absolutely enrages me is that with the end of the fiscal year coming up at our company, the management has taken upon themselves to cut the hours of their employees so they can get a bigger bonus. I know this may seem naive that I’ve never considered that a manager would go to this level to gain an extra check. Sure the managers work very hard to keep the store together. But these employees have lives too. They have bills. They have responsibilities. Some of them have kids to take care of. This is class-ism at it’s finest and it has never hit so close to home.

America's Paths to the Top

The cartoon I just posted of "America's Paths to the Top", is one of my favourite images depicting not only class-ism, but also racial and gender racism. As concentratedridiculousness pointed out, the picture not only depicts the different classes, and how easy/hard it is for them get to the "top", but you can ignore the class labels and see the cartoon in a totally different light. A white male has the easiest route (as Group 2 discussed in Scalz's Straight White Male- The Lowest Difficulty Setting) to the top by taking the elevator. The white woman might be able to make it to the top by climbing the rope, but it will be a much longer and more difficult journey than the white male's. And lastly, the person of colour has a ladder; a ladder that is just too short, and will not make it to the top. If this person wants to get to the top they are going to have to work extra hard, and find some other means to get them there.
