Venus de Milo inspired Flatwoods Monster ♥
We’ll start Classic Week off with one of the most well known lake monsters ever, the Loch Ness Monster, a.k.a. Nessie.
The Loch Ness Monster is a cryptid that inhabits Loch Ness, a lake in Scotland. The creature is most often described as having a long neck and flippers, and many believers claim that Nessie is a surviving member of the species plesiosaur, an ancient reptile that lived during the Mesozoic Era.
The creature has also been described as being eel-like in appearance.
There have been many famous photographs of the creature, including the supposedly faked picture above, known as “the Surgeon’s Photograph.”
Skeptics claim that the creature isn’t anything unusual, claiming many sightings to be misidentified logs, sturgeons (a species of large fish), or simply shadows on the lake’s surface caused by clouds. They also claim most photographic evidence of Nessie to be hoaxes.
Despite this, Nessie is still one of the best known cryptids in the community, and its legend has given no clues that it is slowing down.
Do you believe in Nessie?
