No,its a very unique lamp design by Achille Castiglioni from the 1980s. As a designer, there are many items from the drawing board of Castiglioni, but I like this light a lot. It does its job as a light with style and verve. The idea of using a small mirror to reflect light where you want is ...is wonderful! It is my thought that there needs to be more lights like this.
About 6 months ago I did a sketch, one in aluminum and one in brass without blindly copying Castiglionis original design. There is also the problem with cost. The original uses cast plastics which require a very expensive mold. These are of hand shaped and riveted metals, maybe painted..left in natural finish ? The mirror is rectangular to fit the square design. The light source is 12v LEDS, maybe color changing? Would that be too much?
