People don't pray for Satan because it is too late to save him. I'm sure you've already gotten the answer to that, but I just need you to know. He is the leader of Damnation, he can't be saved, and even if he could, he wouldn't want to. He's never repented, never apologized, never tried righting his wrongs. He's pleased owning his own "world".

Thing is, in my religion, you’re not supposed to ask to be forgiven, and you’re not supposed to ask for salvation. You just get that. But prayer is appealing to a higher power in order to try to reach God.

And thinking about your comments on that quotation metaphorically - are you saying that anyone who has never repented for what they’ve done can never be saved? Because I’d like to call bull shit on that. We all own our own “worlds,” and some might be more sinful than others. Whatever, I accept that. But assuming that someone who has done so much wrong in the past will never be saved is just wrong. We survive in frames of mind, which means that our minds can change, and they often do change. Someone who has lived a damned life and who has never apologized or repented or righted their wrongs can be saved, because forgiveness is handed out freely.

In that, I think the Mark Twain quotation is more than Satan. It’s hope. It’s hope that even the worst of us deserve to be saved and to be forgiven and to be prayed for. We don’t pray for the worst of us. But we should. Because even they deserve it, maybe even more than the rest of us.
