2. What is the biggest obstacle/reason preventing you from becoming a professional or competing full time with ease?
desire tbh. I mean that and talent/resources lmao.
4. Was there ever a horse that you loved and really wanted to have a connection with, but it just never panned out? Details.
I wish I’d actually gotten the opportunities to ride Dex that everyone else was given. I didn’t NEED to ride him since I already had a C3/B horse but he was just a really cool chunker and it always pissed me off that Michelle got to ride him all the time instead of HER OWN FUCKING HORSE (whom she was afraid of despite him basically being half lame).
6. What is the biggest doubt/insecurity you ask or tell yourself in your head?
“You are going to die if you jump that”.
8. What is one event in your riding career/horse/anything that you’re still not over, even though you might tell others you are?
Not being able to qualify to the first Champs I could afford to go to due to an allergic reaction keeping Mia from being able to compete for 2 of 3 days.
10. Have you ever seen questionable riding or training practices, but let it go/ignored it? How do you feel about it in hindsight?
I saw it all the time at the barn and kind of not my business? Like, if the Western trainers are going to do really dumb shit then it’s not my problem they’re ruining a horse.
12. Do you honestly think your trainer is the best trainer for you?
n/a because broke af lmao
14. If riding meant costing your family so much money that they’d be basically on poverty line, or making your family terribly unhappy (if they were not supportive or understanding, etc.) would you still do it?
If my family was unsupportive: fuck you If my family was poor: well hello underappreciated working student life
16. How do you tell when a horse likes someone/has bonded with you or someone else?
It’s just like... in the eyes???
18. If you could have one horse from your past come back for 5 minutes, who would it be, why, and what would you do with them in those 5 minutes?
20. One piece of advice/training you were given by a trainer or mentor that you look back on now and view it as incorrect?
“Ride with shorter inside rein and always have your outside rein about 2 inches higher”--- because we fix students issues when we can mask them.
