Reputation Management Strategies Review - Full Sail University
Let me start off by saying that this was a great course for a number of reasons. I was afforded the opportunity to complete a number of public relations tasks that I had never done before and received honest, direct feedback from our instructor, Tom Vizcarrondo, or as I grew to call him, Dr. V. Following each assignment, Dr. V., would leave a narrated video describing the motivation behind his grading. This was a perfect addition to the already near flawless educational experience at Full Sail.
This month was packed with activities to further our capstone project. In the first week we completed a reputation assessment assignment. This assessment included an introduction, explanation and description of the company’s identity, listing and description of constituent groups, and a current measurement of the client’s image and reputation. While I believe that I did a decent job with this task, Dr. V definitely pointed out a few areas of concern. With the critique being presented in narrated video form, it was easy to understand exactly where my mistakes were made.
The next week involved completing an online reputation assessment. Considering that my client, Cala’s Kitchen and Catering, is fairly new to the online world and still in its infancy in regards to social media, I did not have a ton of information to work with. I did not find any negative comments or reviews online, so I took a deeper look and analyzed the few positive comments that I found. I believe that this was a good tactic and my grade reflected just that.
The last two weeks of class involved creating a crisis communications plan for our capstone clients. These were my favorite assignments of the month. I can see myself creating these for clients after graduation. This is a skill that will be utilized for many years to come. I have actually decided that during Christmas vacation I am going to make a crisis communications plan for my business, Up Country Studios, and my wife’s business, Candied Blossoms. It is crucial that any business be able to respond promptly, accurately and confidently during a crisis.
