Public Relations: Final Project and Thesis Review - Full Sail University
It has been a very educational, fun, and challenging year in the Public Relations Masters program at Full Sail. I received my bachelor’s degree in Sports Marketing from Full Sail in November of 2014. I decided that it would be beneficial to complete my masters program while I was still in “school mode.” I can honestly say that it was a wise choice. I have been able to apply everything that I learned in the sport-marketing program to my master’s journey.
In the first week of class we drafted the first version of our theses. This was more of an organizational task then a writing assignment. My thesis is the culmination of my work with Cala’s Kitchen and Catering in Derby, NY. I planned and executed a six-month social media marketing campaign for Cala’s that included the creation and promotion of a Facebook and Twitter account, as well as the corresponding in store events for the campaign.
This campaign was a challenging but rewarding process. In over 25 years of business, Cala’s had never run an Internet marketing campaign, let alone a social media marketing campaign. Cala’s did not even have a single social media page. Convincing owner, Vincent Cala, to trust me on the importance of the Internet for any business operating in 2016, may have been the most difficult assignment of the entire year.
During the last 3 weeks of class we continued to work on our theses and our personal websites. I’m overjoyed that the previous 11 months of work lead to a fulfilling final month of studying at Full Sail. In my work with Cala’s and my final thesis, I received the opportunity to implement the skills that I acquired while studying at Full Sail. I’d like to extend my gratitude to the Full Sail staff. They truly make your educational journey a joy. I would recommend Full Sail University to anyone seeking a quality education in a modern, interactive environment.
