"Ma vie de Courgette" (My Life as a Zucchini) (2016) is one of my favorite animation for its minimalism, and its painful yet joyful melody. Created and directed by Claude Barras, this stop-motion animated film is about a boy named Icare "Courgette" who accidentally kills his drunkard mother and was sent by the police to a foster house. There he meets other abandoned/orphaned children including Camille, his first love. This film depicts the stories of children who are not very lucky with life, and how friendship builds trust and love. Hope was beautifully depicted throughout the film. While others may not choose it for its lacking "elaboration" of some aspects in the story, which I think was intended to keep the storyline as simple as possible. Besides, it was written by Céline Sciamma, which won her best screenplay. That is the thing with Céline, minimalism is her style. You can say I am biased because I am a huge fan, but I can't help it if it's a really good film. #maviedecourgette #mylifeasacourgette #mylifeasazucchini #claudebarras #celinesciamma https://www.instagram.com/p/B_huIRBA5bK/?igshid=1gi5gp7bdwc4g
