Royel Otis haben das im Frühjahr 2024 veröffentlichte Album Pratts and Pain und einer It ain´t over till it ends edition von 13 auf 17 tracks aufgeblasen. Erfreulich ist dabei das neue Stück Claw foot, welches es gleich in diverse meiner Playlists geschafft hat. Und ganz nebenbei angemerkt: Royel Otis sind auch eine formidable Coversband. Hören Sie sich mal gegelentlich die durchaus beeindrucktenden Interpretationen von Murder on the dancefloor oder Linger an.

Smol Ogre Skull is getting a display pillar! I found the bone fragment (from a horse or cow) a few years ago on a hike and was drawn to the cracked, weathered surface, as well as the areas of exposed cancellous bone. I really like the way Smol Ogre looks sitting on top, so I've been sculpting claw feet on the other end. Hope to mold this, along with the horns for the leathery drake, and possibly a few other projects, within the next few days! Claw foot.

This desk held the telephone in the home where Mother grew up on Kuder Avenue in Akron Ohio. It later moved with my grandparents to their next home in Akron on Delia Ave where it again held the telephone. Eventually, Mother and Daddy settled it in the sunroom of our house and placed our own telephone on it out there. They placed it where our old upright piano with its revolving seat had stood until it became obvious that none of us was ever going to become an accomplished pianist and they donated our musical futures to the local YWCA. Desks with this slanting top are often referred to as Gov Winthrop desks, a happy amalgamation of the names of Gov John Winthrop, the first Governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony and the Winthrop Furniture Company. Our own desk was made by the Maddox Table Company of Jamestown NY and probably dates from the 1920’s. It is made of walnut and has an oxbow front (the two gentle curves).
