Google+
First and foremost, let me know if you need an invite because I still have a few.
Okay, now Google+ is seemingly starting to rule real hard. I like the diversity that is built into it, not to mention the (FINALLY!) clean interface that Google is using. I can see this taking over generally as THE social media network.
Read more of stream on consciousness ramblings after the jump.
Google+ allows you to do all the same basic functions of Facebook as well as Twitter by using the "+name" feature which is comparable to the "@name" feature on Twitter. Then there is the "+1" feature which is new and strikingly obvious! I suppose it's comparable to the "like" feature on Facebook but has a whole new world of possibilities built into it.
This feature allows user to "like" a post or a webpage that you have found relevant or useful in your Google search. Granted, Bing has already implemented a similar feature using your friends Facebook Likes as a means to bump a webpage up in search results.
This is all an integration into SEO marketing and Google is taking full advantage. Who uses Bing over Google search? I'm going to make the wild assumption that not many are on the Bing band-wagon. With that said, everyone on Google+ using the "+1" function is now effecting the search results of everyone else who is searching on the net, whether they are on Google+ or not. Is this a good thing? Maybe, maybe not... Not my place to decide that.
I also find is odd that if you search my name "Connor Gaughan" in Google that my Google+ account isn't the first thing to appear. Maybe I've done a decent job with the SEO of my personal site but I can't figure why it would be this way.
