Here's a question that I haven't seen here before: What options are there for artists who want to be as eco-friendly as possible? Eco-friendly printers, eco-friendly packaging, etc.?
Kiriska: My usual printer rec, Catprint, is actually wonderfully eco-friendly and have been since before I started using them. I’ve always thought it was cool I could melt their packing peanuts in the sink.
For packaging, Clearbags and Papermart both have eco-friendly sections of their site, though I don’t have any personal experience here.
actually this is gonna kinda sound stupid, but I use brown envelopes because I have no idea where to buy those clear bags from.
Kiriska: I’m not sure what the question is. Are you just looking for Clearbags.com ? Other places to get packaging stuff: PrattPlus, Papermart.
I've been searching through the prints tag, but can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Is there a specific place that you guys suggest for buying backing boards and plastic sleeves for prints? I've looked through Amazon, but I can't find anything big enough for 13x19 prints, and everything I've seen is honestly pretty pricey.
Kiriska: Clearbags.com, though backing boards don’t seem to be available in that size. Most large backing boards are also only available in 2-ply or higher, making them pricier.
13x19 is quite a big size though, and I would probably recommend getting tube bags to roll them into instead of going the backing board route, though obviously if you’re using a very thick/heavy paper, that may not really be an option either.
But 13x19 is larger than the average print, and I think most customers would also prefer being able to roll it VS having a heavy backing board and sleeve to carry around.
