Up In Flames | | Christina & Open
Christina dove the ground when she heard a loud crash and something going through the top floor. She covered her head as the ceiling started to fall. Once everything fell still, Christina rose to her feet. She ran to what was left of the window to see what happened and all she saw was a world on fire. Everything in Lothering was up in flames. The cause? A dragon. And Christina stared at that dragon, taking it all in until it flew away. She glanced around her ruined apartment and realized that there were two things she needed to take with her. She snatched a backpack from her room and rummaged through her safe for the hard drive and laptop she had. Two things that seemed like they could easily be replaced, but held important meaning for Christina. Everything else was just stuff.
Christina zipped up the bag and then slung it over her shoulders. As she headed for the door, the building moaned and the wood started to crunch as something was landing on the room. Before Christina could even react, she felt the building start to give out and then everything became much hotter. She yelled out as the floor fell through and she started to fall as well. It all happened in slow motion, and then her face suddenly hit the ground. She turned over and looked up, slightly dazed and confused. As she sat up, she watched as the flames ate away at the old wood. Shit.
She heard her phone ringing and noticed that it was Aron’s number. “I can’t talk right now,” she said, clearing a path for herself. “I said I can’t talk....Because my fucking apartment is on fire!” Christina hung up and stood up, only to be knocked down by a beam. She coughed as the ash and smoke filled her lungs and seared her throat. She reached out a hand to crawl out from under the beam. Once she was free, she ran to get out from under what was left of the building. She wiped her face, the sweat and dirt getting smudged with the blood that ran down her face. As Christina was running, she heard someone calling for help.
