So, after the propane guy chastised me for not heating the house with all the dead trees in my yard, I went out this morning with my 8yo and we bought a Stihl chainsaw (people tell me that they’re the best and I shouldn’t waste my time buying a lesser chainsaw because I’ll just end up buying a “Husky” or a Stihl anyway) and, I gotta tell ya, we were pretty impressed with ourselves. The guy at the dealer set it up and even demonstrated how to use it. He did NOT, mind you, demonstrate how to not kill or maim ourselves or, for that matter, how to use the saw on an actual... you know... tree. That’s where this guy comes in. I called a top gun to teach me how to use this powerful tool to mind my property and created burnable firewood. If you look at @timbersmithcorporation’s IG, you can see he cuts down trees that are wider than I am tall and some of them are actually still on fire when while he’s cutting them. He also sometimes even attaches a GoPro to the saw to show how it’s done. Well, as you can imagine, I put a few beers in him and the cutting firewood lesson quickly turns into a “I can cut this. You think I can’t cut this? I can totally cut this!” sorta daredevil standoff but the only difference is he’s coaching ME to do it. I suggested we leave this 150ft tall monster for another day. There ain’t enough beer in my fridge to make me brave enough to fell this huge pine. Yeah, that’s right.
