8. Where and when do they seem most and least at ease? Why? How can you tell?

Ulysse (Baldur’s Gate 3): She’s most at ease in the wilds, in her camp, alone. She can let almost all of her guard down. You can tell when she’s really comfortable or content because she’ll start humming. She’s least at ease in large towns and cities.

15. What kind of inner life do they have — rich and imaginative? Calculating and practical? Full of doubts and fears? Does it find any sort of outlet in their lives?

Io (FFXIV): Oh she’s SUCH a daydreamer. She’s constantly lost in thoughts of things that could’ve been, or thinking about a good book she’s read recently, or pleasant plans for the future. It keeps the thoughts of ever-encroaching doom at bay, but those are always scratching at the edges of her mind. Outwardly, she’s far more pragmatic than her thoughts would have you believe. She has to be. 20. What kind of individual relationships do they have with others, and how do they behave in them? How are they different between intimate relationships like friends, family, and lovers versus more impersonal relationships?

Effie (Wayfarer): She’s diplomatic but firm in most of her relationships. She’s often only interacting for work anyway. If she ends up enjoying the company of the person in question, she’s down for a little banter or noncommital flirting. In her more intimate relationships, she becomes very concerned about their well-being. She is quite protective. One of those “I get to say this person is an ass because I love them but if you say it, I’m going to stab you” types.

Cleo (The Arcana): Cleo tends to be bright and cheerful in all her relationships, though she’s far more casually touchy with people she knows well. She’s quick to accept touch from others as well, reaching out to hold a friend’s hand as readily as a romantic partner’s.

31. Is there anything that counts as a “dealbreaker” for them, positively or negatively? What makes things go smoothly, and what spoils an activity or ruins their day? Why?

Effie: Effie’s the kind of person that keeps repeating “it can’t get much worse” when things are already pretty bad. Not much is going to totally ruin her day because she’s seen experienced worse before. She’d rather not fight with people if it can be helped, and if she has to draw her sword against a person, she’d pretty close to Done TM.

39. What sort of questions or thoughts recur in their lives, either specifically or as a theme? Why are these never answered, or answered permanently to their satisfaction?

Cleo: Cleo struggles with feelings of authenticity and has all her life. She’s made a lot of difficult decisions, including leaving her family to study magic with her aunt and staying in Vesuvia during the plague to help the sick and dying. These were choices that felt right, even if they led to her demise. In her second chance at life, she’s still questioning. In a way, she feels free with the knowledge that she’s died. The last three years are all she has and she’s worked hard to be true to herself during that time.

Io: Io’s got some pretty gnarly survivor’s guilt. She constantly feels like she’s leaving a trail of dead behind her and is forever asking “why me?”

A date with Nish would probably be a snuggly night in, watching movies he knows he’s terrified of so he has an excuse to be close. Mutual snack grabbing is a must.

But a date with Cleo is going to be spent taking in the city’s sights by day, day drinking in a park, and buying each other cute and kitschy trinkets in a consignment shop.
