Queen Cleopatra had a palace there that overlooked her basins, known today as Cleopatra Beach. The sky is bright blue, the sand bright white, the sea perfect, and there's not a soul on the beach. Believed to be the bathing place of Cleopatra and Marcus Antonius; Cleopatra Beach sits about a 14km drive north-west of Marsa Matrouh around the bay’s thin tentacle of land. The sea here is an exquisite turquoise hue, and the rock formations are worth a look. Heading to Cleopatra’s Bath, a natural pool where legend has imagined the queen and Mark Antony enjoying a dip, but you can't actually swim because of the waves and rocks just offshore. The sea at Cleopatra Beach can be quite rough, so it is a popular spot for water sports. Cleopatra's beach is both the most beautiful of Marsa Matrouh, perhaps all of Egypt. #iregipto #egyptpassion #marsamatrouh #cleopatra #cleopatrabath #cleopatrabeach #cleopatrapalace (at Marsa Matruh) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1o8FFqH8HX/?igshid=xfke2t5y9ryx
