“I can feel your eyes on me, Lexa.”
“I’m watching you draw, my love.”
“Sure you are.”

“And they’ve also both lost ex loves. Clarke’s lost Finn; Lexa’s lost Costia. In many ways they connect and relate to one another in ways they don’t with other people. That’s what creates such a foundation for this relationship to go somewhere. They can trust in each other [because] they understand the situation that each other’s been put in. That’s probably what’s created this friendship and what could be—and is—potentially more. It definitely stems from a good place.” - Alycia Debnam Carey
As a part of the LGBT community and a huge clexa fan, I still have to say that it does kind of rub me the wrong way when so many fans say that the clexa relationship was the best portrayal of a queer relationship, or that Lexa was the most well written lesbian character, etc. I'm not saying that her character hasn't effected and helped and changed people because she has. There are even things that I have learnt from her. But it was not the best portrayal of a lesbian relationship, nor was Lexa the best protrayal of a lesbian character, ever. She was amazing and badass and the way she died was completely unworthy of how awesomely she lived, but when people say she was the best... i kinda want to punch you in the face. There have been many gay characters that I can name who represented the LGBT community, but I don't like to think of any as the best. Each representation is of worth and you only upset and annoy other people when you try and shove your beliefs in their faces. I love this fandom so much, but i also simultaneously want to punch some of you and hide in embarrassment from some of the shit that happens around here.
