Now that I have finished my undergraduate degree, I have decided to pursue a Master of Social Work. While I feel ready to start this new chapter...
Hey all! Please check out my YouCaring fundraiser and consider donating to help me finance social work school. Any amount, no matter the size, would be an incredible help and massively appreciated. For folks who cannot afford to donate but would like to help out in some way, please feel free to share this link to your social media pages to spread the word. Thank you!
The description on my fundraiser page reads:
Now that I have finished my undergraduate degree, I have decided to pursue a Master of Social Work. My goal is to eventually earn a license in clinical social work so that I can dedicate my career to supporting survivors of trauma in a clinical setting. While I feel ready to start this new chapter of my life, my bank account surely is not ready to handle the costs of graduate school applications, tuition, living expenses, textbooks, and more (despite working my butt off every week between four different jobs on top of a full-time course load, volunteer work, and extracurricular activities).
While my personal experiences partly orient me towards a career in this field, I am also passionate about the values of social and economic justice that characterize the social work profession. Attending social work school will arm me with the necessary tools and knowledge to work alongside survivors of trauma on their journey to healing and empowerment, while also seeking to improve access to social services within under-served and marginalized communities and reworking oppressive legislation that harms those same individuals.
I know that going to social work school is the right choice for me, and feel confident that I am prepared to take on this endeavor. The one thing that I am not sure of is how to finance this investment, and I hope that money is not what stops me from achieving my dream of becoming a clinical social worker so that I can help to make the lives of others a little bit lighter.
i just finished the series finale of the x files and i am DEAD INSIDE what the FUCK has happened to me i am so upset i wish i could go back to the day i first saw this show and rewatch it all ... nothing is the same anymore .. . who am i
so i am going to paris in three days with my parents to visit my sister! and i get to bring dave along with me and it is going to be SPECTACULAR ... and then we are going to london on the night of the 25th and will be spending two ENTIRE days there just the two of us! it is going to be incredible!!
what sucks the most about going to a community college is that there's this automatic assumption im not smart enough to get into a *real* school, but like nah ... im just broke as fuck!!!!!
hey there everyone!
so i am currently working on a research project for my medical anthropology class in which i am studying the health care rights of transgender women in prison. my research mainly focuses around issues of access to hormone therapy for incarcerated trans-women, how laws and regulations such as the eighth amendment affect the health care they receive, and understanding how gender is defined by the prison institutions they are being held by (which greatly affects the housing outcomes of these women).
in order to do this research, i have collected many different scholarly and academic sources regarding the issue, but i would also like to get outside opinions from people like you! because of this, i have created a quick little survey regarding sex, sexuality and gender as it relates to the health care rights of transgender women. my plan is to compare the results of this survey to the research i have already collected in order to see where public opinion (albeit the opinions from a small sample of a much larger population) may differ or relate to the opinions and regulations of larger institutions - such as the prison system - in regards to the health care rights of transgender women.
if any of you are interested in taking this survey, here is the link. The questionnaire is entirely anonymous and confidential, so there’s no need to worry about your personal responses being revealed to others. even i will not be able to see who gives what responses! the entire thing will take maybe 5 minutes to complete, and i would really appreciate it if any of you were to take it! also, it would be great if everyone could reblog this to help spread the word. thank you!
p.s. if any of you would like to read my final project, you can contact me at [email protected] and i would gladly send you a pdf of my paper once it is completed!
