i know that Valentine is your oc and that can be some seriously personal and important stuff but like. as some rando cowboy who started following you Because of him, can i just say thank you? thank you for thinkin him up and drawin him and puttin him where other folks get to see b/c I don't know about anyone else and I do apologize if this is overstepping but he just. speaks of home, in a way? like it's some bone-deep comfort to get to see him n stuff. so yeah. thank you.
Hey there. Wow, that is actually very nice to hear. You’re right, he is very personal, when I came up with him he was only an nameless doll I made to be dressed up (even though I planned on giving him more substance) and over time I filled him with more character and part of it is very self-insert.
A lot of us self isolate because the world is overwhelming, and we have a hard time finding a spot to fit in. Then we live in a semi-fantasy world in our head, where things are better or at least different.
Valentine became somewhat a way of expressing this feeling. He’s depressed but reached that state of “I don’t care anymore” and unapologetically doing his thing but he still hasn’t found a place to fit in. So he’s out there in his personal self-isolation desert with his horse and his material belongings as the only ones to keep him company, living his cowboy lifestyle. And I think that is very relatable (maybe replace horse with a smaller pet and cowboy-lifestyle with whatever you would love to do, but you get the idea).
I don’t know if this is what speaks to you or other stuff but either way I don’t mind people feeling connected to him, quite the opposite. He is, after all, a millennial.
