Fitness Apps, Etc. - Recommendations?
I finally got my first smart phone (thanks to Clark Howard and Republic Wireless), and now I’m wondering how I can maximize its usefulness by doing some health/fitness things on there.
I’ve used Daily Mile, Fitocracy, MFP, the US government’s food tracker (covers more nutrients than MFP), etc. on my PC before... I’m not a huge fan of tracking; because it’s tedious... but I also understand the benefits, so if it could be somewhat automated, I might give it a whirl.
Ideally, I’d like something that I can use to track all the things (or that can be integrated with other things -- e.g., if I could record my walks/hikes/eventual runs on Daily Mile and import that easily into another tracker). It’d be great if I could create preset routines, or plan each workout and then record actual results/adjustments as I complete it. Goal tracking would also be nice, especially if it gave me percentages of how close I am to a goal. I’d like to track my climbing, strength-training, aerobic conditioning, flexibility, physical therapy, macro- and micro- nutrients... Preferably for free/low-cost (I don’t mind ads as long as they’re silent and not too obnoxious). Oh, and I don’t have a data plan, so something I could use offline, that would then sync once I’m on WiFi.
I know there are various types of fitness wearables, in addition to apps... but I’ve no clue if that’s something I’d even want to pursue. For now, I figured I’d start with apps. So, what do you recommend?
