CTommy being religious/a devout Christian is a very popular headcanon and interpretation of his character, but what about CTubbo?
I feel he’d be atheist, or have sort of flimsy beliefs - he takes bits and pieces from what he knows, and from his own brain, and that’s just what he believes. But he wasn’t always that way.
Maybe he was just the same as CTommy, or even the opposite - maybe he found solace in religion when he was a little boy, maybe he’d kneel in front of a window during the beginning of L’manburg and pray for a good tomorrow (and maybe for cNiki to bake biscuits, because he doesn’t like lemon cake,) and CTommy laughs because what’s he going to do! A random sky man isn’t going to change what Niki bakes, and CTommy likes lemon cake anyway.
It stays the same for the most part during the Manburg-Pogtopia era, but he becomes a bit more serious - instead it feels like a necessity or an escapism, maybe a comfort more than genuine belief. He prays for it all to be over, and for someone to save him; because cTubbo doesn’t like being cSchlatt’s right-hand-man, he doesn’t like being cWilbur’s little spy.
He wanted out. But nobody came.
Then suddenly, Schlatt knew of his little escapades and that his skittish demeanour was for a reason - a reason more than his berating and abuse towards the child. And suddenly he’s stood in front of everyone, and cTechno is stood in front of him, launcher in hand, promising cTubbo he’d make it as quick and painless as possible because God, he’s what, 13? 14? cTechno doesn’t want to know.
cTubbo initially held his rosary beads to his chest, knowing he had no escape, but then he begins to twist them around his fingers and dig his nails into the cross and beads, so hard he feels then bend and break, because nobody’s coming and nobody will save him, and it is so, so stupid.
Then he’s shot, twice, and the rope of the rosary beads break from the sparks and flames, being thrown across the stage as cTubbo is blasted back. He wasn’t hit directly in the heart or the brain; so he doesn’t die right away, and his last coherent thought is how cruel a fate that is.
The rubble, his burned flesh, his clothing which was torn from his melting sinew, his blood and, his destroyed rosary sat there for a very long time. And now cTubbo feels sick at the thought of believing in anything that stupid.
Because some random sky man isn’t going to change what happens to him.
