History Made the Right Way Hillary and Warren. My Personal Plea to Secretary Clinton.

History was made June 7th, 2016 in a big way. Profound change came to America in the form of our very first female nominee of a major party in the United States. Hillary Clinton, one of my political idols has finally shattered the glass ceiling holding women back in the race for the highest office in our land, the Presidency.

I’m profoundly proud of the campaign Hillary has been running, it’s filled with ideals, ideas and so much hope for our future. The entrance Hillary made was so powerful itself, the statement she made by walking out with the music of Sara Bareilles “Brave” amplified the Historic moment in time. The suspense of finally seeing my candidate, my hero, and hopefully the next President of the United States was almost more than I could bare. What happened next surprised me, I was overcome with emotion, just like I was 7 years ago when then President Elect Obama took the stage in Chicago to celebrate with the thousands of people gathered. Tears streamed down my face, I could feel the smile, there was that feeling again... That insurmountable proud feeling you get when you finally see another barrier being broken, the barrier my mother never thought possible, a woman will be the nominee for the Democratic Party!

The speech was magical, it was everything and more, I was expecting Hillary to bring down the house, I was expecting her to knock it out of the park, and she did, she soared. “We should lift each other up - not tear each other down. To be great, we can’t be small. We have to be as big as the values that define us!” - Hillary Clinton. Hillary, you did just that, you lifted us up, you made us feel like we were there, soaring with you, higher and higher as the speech went on. The theme felt to me like it was meant to begin to unify us, to bring us back home together, to the Democratic Party! I’m so very proud of Hillary, so Proud. Hill Yes!!!

The next few days were a whirlwind, the party has begun to come together. Bernie Sanders has toned down his rhetoric and began to slowly come down from the mountain top and, in my opinion, slowly begin to bring his supporters home to the Democratic Party. Senator Sanders began the campaign as a footnote, a political unknown to so many outside the sphere of Politics, but Bernie has become a hero, he’s become larger than life. The Senator from Vermont has brought to the forefront so many issues that I believe in; marriage equality, pay equality, banking reform, trade reform, middle class values, manufacturing jobs, infrastructure, social security expansion and so much more. The progressives in our party, the liberals have another voice, and that voice is going to help shape the future in a big, big way. Thank you Senator Sanders, Thank you.

If it couldn’t get any better, our President, Barack Obama in a very eloquent video message announced his support and his endorsement for Hillary Clinton to be our next President! “I don’t think there’s ever been someone so qualified to hold this office." - President Obama. I couldn’t agree more Mr. President, you said it. Hillary’s qualifications far outweigh anyone currently holding elected office, (Vice President Biden and President Obama not included).

Senator Warren, my personal “liberal lion” a woman cut from the same cloth as the late Ted Kennedy, the original “liberal lion” of the Senate was to be on Rachel Maddow’s show to endorse Hillary. I couldn’t believe it, my favorite liberal in the Senate, a woman I look up to, just as much as I look up to Secretary Clinton is finally going to lend her support!! Rachel Maddow, you should be given an award for your segment with Sen. Warren, you didn’t only get the amazing endorsement on your show, You also got Senator Warren to say she’s ready to become President if the need shall arise.

And I know you’re not seeking the job and I know you love being a senator. But if you were asked to be Secretary Clinton’s running mate, do you believe you could do it? By that I mean, the most important job of being a vice president is to be ready to be president if God forbid something happened to the commander-in-chief. The way she got that out of Senator Warren was something out of old Tim Russert’s playbook:

“I know you don’t want the job. But do you know you would be capable of stepping into that job and doing that job if you were ever called to do it? Because -- and I ask you because Ed Rendell, former DNC chairman, former Pennsylvania governor, said recently that you were no -- not in any way, shape or form ready to be commander-in-chief. I want to know if you think you could be.” - Rachel Maddow

The Senators answer was brilliant, it was powerful, and for those of us watching at home, it was emotional, three simple words:

“Yes I Do” - Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts

Rachel, you have outdone yourself, you’ve given us “Clinton / Warren” hopefuls something to really, and I mean really hope for now. Let’s push to elect Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren as the next President and Vice President of these United States!!!

Here’s my personal plea to Secretary Clinton:

Madam Secretary,

I know it’s probably unheard of that this message may reach you, but if you do, and it’s before you select your vice President, I hope you read this and ponder it. I’m a 28 year old, small business owner from Michigan, I’m a lifelong Democrat, I remember yelling at the TV when Jay Leno was making jokes about your husband, President Clinton. I’d always say “Mom, He’s going to hurt Mrs. Clinton’s feelings too, he has no respect for them!”, and my mom would try to explain to me, in the best way she could to a child who hadn’t even reached his teen years, “this is how politics are my dear, don’t be upset, because Mrs. Clinton is tough, shes a fighter.”

I didn’t know how right she was at the time Mrs. Clinton, but I do now. You’ve proven you’re a fighter, you’re a winner, and that you work for the middle class, the minorities and the hard working Americans that don’t have the voice or the platform you do. Mrs. Clinton, you now have the power to make another bold statement, to select a woman who’s your perfect compliment, a real liberal to your more moderate views, a woman who will unite this party and light a flame under it and fire us all up through the convention and onto the inauguration.

Forget those who say two women can’t be elected in this country, that a gender specific ticket can’t win right now, because for 200 plus years, men had no problem with it. Senator Warren is the absolute perfect choice, she will unite, she will be a bull dog, she will channel her inner Joe Biden and go after Trump and his Vice Presidential nominee without relent. Senator Warren will do the hard speaking and you will be able to truly focus on your message, and that message is so powerful. It’s filled with substance, its filled with ideals and hope. Let’s put both of you in the White House, let’s show the country two women can lead this country better than any two men have before them. Your time is now, lets fire up, lets unite, and lets elect Secretary Hillary Clinton and United States Senator Elizabeth Warren!
