Heya! I’ve had an odd question and don’t really know where to begin researching it, so I figured you might know or at least know where to look.
I have a group of friends that I make erotic content with (we are all 18+, no worries!) and every now and then we talk about our irl sexual health as well. Now- one of my friends has been neglected and abused throughout her life, and still lives with her abuser. This is just to give the context that she doesn’t always know about things she never found out about, and we have to teach her that certain things her abuser told her aren’t true.
Occasionally in conversation about vaginal masturbation, she’s mentioned that she never actually touches herself because she doesn’t even “have one of those” in reference to a clit. Obvs i don’t have a problem with that, but it did make me curious if it was possible for someone with a vagina to have no clitorus, or if it’s another case where she’s misinformed and doesn’t know how to identify it.
Is it possible to be born with a vagina/vulva and no clitorus?
Hii! Ooh, I love odd questions ngl, so thanks for sending this my way.
Congrats on your group, that sounds awesome! And I'm so glad y'all are able to help each other out like that, that's so sweet. 💞 Good for y'all.
Well, it is possible! You can be born without pretty much every body part (though survival past birth depends). I believe its very rare but its hard to say how rare given how little research there is on things involving the clitoris.
In fact, it's an intersex variation! It's generally called aphallia, which is a term for when someone is born without a penis or clitoris. You won't find a lot of information on it involving clitoris' but there are a few papers on it, I believe.
So yes, it's possible. It's also completely possible she isn't aware of how to identify her clitoris as well!
And, not to pry into your affairs, but if y'all are discussing this shit, you could straight-up just ask if she's been taught how to check for her clitoris or if that's something she was diagnosed with, realized over time or what.
Just make it clear you're aware its her business at the end of the day and she doesn't have to share if she doesn't want to.
(Also, maybe irrelevant but you don't need a clitoris to masturbate. And lacking an external clitoris doesn't mean the entire internal structure is missing. Or other pleasure points. Just saying.)
Anyway! Hope this helps, this was an interesting question to answer. Lemme know if you have any others! <3
