After all this time, Clive has almost forgotten the feeling of tender affection. He blinks in surprise as Joshua leans closer to bring his hand up and swiftly tuck his hair out of his face.

It's gotten so long that it falls in his face every now and then. There's reason it's long, they both know it, with the way it's so carefully covering his scar. He almost flinches away from Joshua because of the scar alone but Joshua's fingers don't even near such a horrid thing.

instead, he is gentle and kind in his actions and Clive isn't sure what to make of his own reaction. The way he expects something harsh only to be surprised by the tenderness.

His expectations have nothing to do with Joshua and everything to do with the trauma he has suffered. Having someone so close is not something he's allowed, because being close means being hurt, but of course Joshua would never hurt him.

he knows that.

His brother would never treat him harshly.

".....I....." He swallows the lump in his throat, hoping against all odds that Joshua does not recognize his initial reaction. A kind smile curls the corners of his lips upwards, "Thank you. My hair can be quite bothersome sometimes."

"Stay." The word tumbles out of his mouth before he can stop himself, his heart hammering against his chest in a way he is not used to. Not out of fear but something else entirely and Clive decides he doesn't want to lose this feeling.

He says it so softly, clearly pleading with Cid to stay. He doesn't want to be alone tonight and while he expects Cid to turn the other way and deny him, he hopes he doesn't.

"Please?" He adds, because if he must beg for Cid's company, he will. He only ever feels safe when he's with Cid and maybe it's unhealthy of him to be so attached, he doesn't really care right now either.

@mamoritxi sent Joshua's arms locked around his brother's waist from behind once the door behind them was locked, kisses pressed to the man's nape, whispering how much he missed him and that he's sorry he's been away. Joshua never thought he'd take this long to come back, but finding them a comfortable inn really wasn't easy. "I booked a room for us. two nights. tell me you're not busy." he rubbed his cheek affectionately against clive's, desiring to have the man all to himself considering their plans. maybe he'd not ever see him again after all...

Clive lets out a content sigh as Joshua wraps arms around tiny waist. He leans back against the younger man, head tilting downward so that Joshua can press as many kisses as he'd like.

His apologies are unneeded but it makes Clive's lips curl up onto a small smile. "You don't need to apologize to me, Joshua." Clive says softly because all that matters is that Joshua had come back. That's all Clive cares about.

How can he say no to a couple of nights away with just the two of them? All is calm with the Hideaway right now, would two days away really hurt anything?

He deserves this, doesn't he? They both do.

"For you? I can make myself available. I'm sure Jill can handle the hideaway while we're away." Clive wiggles to untangle himself from Joshua's grip before facing him, arms wrapping around the much taller man's neck as he stands on the tips of his toes to press his lips to Joshua's.

"I'm fine, Aevis." Clive insists but Aevis is just as stubborn as he is and demands he sit down. Clive sighs but does as he's told, carefully and slowly sitting down. The gash is large in his arm but not deadly, he can tend to it himself.

Though, the placement would make it difficult so after a moment - Clive stops fighting him with it and instead holds his arm out for Aevis to inspect and tend to.

Clive is no stranger to various injuries. He'd caught the blade in the palm of his hand from his attacker without a second though, paying no heed to the way the blade cut into his palm to leave a deep gash.

He had been focused on defending himself. It is times like this where Clive displays underneath the gentleness, he is a trained assassin and warrior.

By the time it's all over, he's more worried about her than he is himself and yet she tenderly takes his hand to tend to the wound. Instinctively, Clive wants to yank away for he is not used to help of any sort, but a second later all the tenseness in his body fades away and he relaxes under her gentle touch, sucking in a sharp breath of pain for only a moment.

"Thank you." Clive finds himself muttering, "Are you alright? You didn't get injured, did you?"

While somewhat surprised, Clive still looks at Gav with fondness. He has always been right by his side, willing to throw his life on the line for Clive. He's perhaps one of his best companions and Clive has felt grateful for him more times than he can count.

A smile curls the corners of Clive's lips upwards, a rare sight, even rarer is the chuckle he gives. Gav's overall demeanor is contagious and Clive feels so fond of the man before him.

"There's no one else I rather be stuck with." It doesn't need to be said, he knows Gav's loyalty lies with him, but it still makes him feel...good....to hear it coming directly from Gav. "Besides, I wouldn't want you to go. I've grown quite used to having you at my side."

The mission is important but it's just a supply run and when Joshua pulls him close like this, how can he even think about the mission? With his warm body pressed against the taller man, Clive practically melts against him as Joshua leans down and presses his lips against his own.

Clive raises to the tips of his toes to make it a little easier on his brother, hands pressed against Joshua's chest as his head tilts and he deepens the kiss. His tongue brushes across Joshua's, instantly entwining their tongues together.

It feels like it has been far too long since they've had a moment alone like this. The mission suddenly doesn't feel important, all that he cares about now is the way their lips slot together and he releases a shuddering breath into Joshua's mouth.

He pulls back, though only slightly as his lips are still inches from Joshua's. "What was that for?" He whispers against his brother's lips, yearning to kiss him again but he ignores the impulse for now.

It is not often Clive lets himself break down but he'd thought he was alone. The hideaway is busy and he'd found some room to escape into, one that isn't often used but Aevis must have heard the soft crying and come to check it out.

He turns away from the man so that his back is turned, a hand coming up to wipe away at his tears. "I-I'm fine." He speaks, though the way his voice shakes is proof that he's not fine.

Everything is so stressful, too much, and it's times like this he misses Cid. He'd know what to do, he always knew what to do with his stupid little shortcuts and his confidence. It's one thing after another, not only is he sad about Cid but nightmares have kept him up for days, and the stress of running an entire Hideaway is getting to him too much - what if he ends up getting people killed? He can't bear that.

Sometimes, he wishes he would never have agreed to continue Cid's legacy and then he starts feeling guilty.

"I-I said I'm fine."
