Haunted Still. || Silque & Clive

—— ❝ Ah… ❞
The word escapes his lips without much a thought at all. He wonders if he’s been pushing himself too much, exhausting himself to do all the behind the scenes work he can even though Alm’s promotion was meant to take away his burdens; after all, if he was not weary, he would not be seeing the Fernand’s father behind the cleric a number of feet away, would he?
❝ …Forgive me, Sister Silque. Call me a loon and I shall cease this topic immediately, but might you humor me for just a moment? The man behind you is a man worthy of the utmost respect, and it’s been… quite some time since I’ve last addressed him. Would you care to approach him with me? ❞
Despite the composure he attempts to keep with his voice, his countenance struggles to maintain that same atmosphere. His eyebrow wrinkles a bit and his pallor was clear. Though he had invited her, he looked so hesitant to move, so unwilling to take the first step, and he breathes a heavy sigh with a self-deprecative laugh shortly after.
❝ Lend me your strength by saying yes or telling me I’m out of my mind. Either option works for me, you see, so don’t be afraid of the truth. ❞
Silque glanced up at Clive, taking a moment to consider his words and then turn to see who this person he might be talking about. Especially when it came with Clive saying that he might not be mentally sound. She had no reason to assume that he was anything but, but these days sometimes stress did funny things. It was odd, but while Silque could not see anyone who Clive was referring to, she felt like there might be something.
Silque nodded, agreeing to the request. “Of course. May I ask who it is that we are approaching?” If she knew who it was, perhaps that would make it easier to understand exactly what was happening.
Silque then paused. “I must admit I do not see anyone, but I don’t have any reason to believe that you have lost your mind my Lord. It does feel as if we aren’t alone. If we approach him, then maybe I will see him as well.”
