Today the Legal Industry (& the world) lost one of its greatest legal minds & characters. I was lucky enough to have worked on defamation cases for 6 years with Clive Evatt. One of the most cultured, quirky, intelligent, scallywag, outrageous & funny people I’ve ever come across & probably will ever meet. The amount of times I saw him shuffling hundreds of papers around the Supreme Court bar table looking lost like a doddering old fool to then arise out of the clutter & quote 100yr old case law perfectly on point to not only blow away the opposition but also the bench & anyone else in the Courtroom was such a sight to be seen. The humour & outrageousness that he could get away with in the Courtroom was unmatched & would leave us in tears of laughter. I feel lucky & honoured to have known & worked with Clive for the period that I did whilst living in Sydney, memories to last a lifetime. Rest In Peace Clive, the battlers have lost a legal warrior. I worry that the publishing companies will get away with murder now that they no longer have the great Clive Evatt to fear & pull them into line. You’ll be missed by many, none least myself✌️✌️🙌🙌🙏🙏 #CliveEvatt #defamation #adefamatorylife #kingofdefamation
