I've actually had this idea in my brain for over a year but never got around to it and then I watched CCBB out of boredom for the 1848578th time today and the music box scene has always been my fave and ANYWAY I love my Clockwork Handy villain. He should be allowed to do evil stuff just as long as it gets fixed! If that means some weird clockwork music box fuckery and non-clockwork Handy still gets to beat his ass then I'm all for it frankly. Clumsy (c) The Smurfs CH is mine

So uh, I kind of got really, REALLY attached to Chaos AU dfjdjlk aka Evil Clumsy AU except well, because the premise was that Clumsy betrays his friends I figured he wouldn't be 100% evil and quite frankly I tend to prefer happy endings. But anyway I then had this fucked up little idea for a cyborg Smurf and then also ended up thinking about prosthetic Handy cause people were talking about in in discord, and whilst he's intact for BV I figured this was already an AU so I'm just chucking everything in and well. Shit happened

Consider it more of a semi-dystopia AU. And again, the origins of the AU start around Clumsy being 160 so it was pre-Crash and Bolt, Tinker is the only kid in this AU (not saying I can’t cross em over at some point but they’re seperate)

Working on my new fave little AU villain ,,, trying to find the line between making him a serious foe whilst not being too OTT but I mean tbf the canonical Smurf villains regularly try to murder them so maybe brainwashing and making Clumsy part of some nefarious mecha machine isn't even the worst thing that's ever happened to him

Why does clockwork handy break away from gargamel?

Ah, good question! :)

So CH was built with ... programming of sorts? But it's a bit hard with clockwork creatures since they're programmed with an AI, as we've seen in Clockwork Smurf, he has a heart of gold that gives him the good personality whilst when Gargamel's replaces it with a stone, CS becomes evil.

When Gargamel built CH, he wasn't really following Handy's building method, but rather one of his own, and the AI linked to it is also instilled in the duplication crystal that Gargamel enchanted. When Handy throws CH off of the cliff, it semi shatters the crystal;

It's kind of like, I guess if a virus got into a computer programme or something, essentially it resets/reprogrammed CH because breaking the crystal removed a large part of the original programming. Essentially, it gave CH his sentience.

Now you might think he'd be thankful that Handy was responsible for giving him sentience. The problem is, as a robot (kinda) Clockwork Handy was designed with the express purpose of hand delivering Smurfs to Gargamel. With a broken function, he kind of loses his motivation for his original purpose. But then, what's there for an evil clockwork to do? That's pretty much why he's after Handy. He's a highly intelligent virus and he has a personal score to settle.

Tbf CH was mostly based on evil clockwork from Heart Of Gold but I'm having a lot of fun with the metal sonic stuff sdjfdjh

How does Clumsy, the twins and Mari react to Handy's robotic look-alike?

Good question anon, I've been wondering how to get around to this myself XD

So Clockwork Handy is created during Gargamel 's main reign, aka he's set around the current canonical events, rather than a future one. So at the time of creation, Clumsy is essentially just another Smurf, who doesn't hold any interest out of the ordinary to CH. Marina? Yeah more so but CH isn't about to tangle with sea water since that's his weakness. His calculations of success following literally anything to do with that are lower than 2% and he's a smart guy.

But anyway moving on to present day;

For starters, CH can't find the village. Despite having much of Handy's knowledge in his gears, this is mechanical knowledge and not personal. Bcuz plot device. Much like literally any other creature, he wouldn't be able to find it unless he was led there, so whilst they're all in the village everyone is pretty safe. The Grove is fairly safe too because CH would be outnumbered 1-100 and it's not worth the effort of creating machinery to deal with the entirety of the Grove when he can just wait for easier opportunity. But it's hard to keep the twins contained anywhere for long and Clumsy has chores/his job to do, so they are a little on guard in the forest or other areas.

The twins, being the twins, think the fact there's an evil robot version of their step-dad wandering around is pretty darn cool. They do understand the danger, of course, and don't actively seek to put themselves in danger ... much, but I mean hey not everyone can have such a cool family story right, there's no reason to be jealous or anything Sower.

Mari is a toddler so she doesn't really think much. All she knows is be cute. Of course Mari grows up too but it's aight cause she spends all her time by the ocean so that's a really good place to be tbh, smart lass.

Clumsy has had to deal with CH for as long as the others have, and does acknowledge that by being with Handy he's putting himself in more danger than the average Smurf, but it's a risk Clumsy thinks is worth it for everything they've gone through. Besides, Smurfs are Smurfs, the majority of them make it out of sticky situations alive ... although ... Clumsy does remember what happened to Stormy the night her rescue party were taken. He HAS seen first hand the effect witnessing something like that has on another Smurf, and to him that's all the more reason to stay put - because his family needs that support.

Of course, ultimately, no real harm is going to happen regardless. Clockwork Handy is my villain and I get to chose the plot. Not saying there weren't close calls for tension sake and cool story telling but he's definitely never been successful at any dodgy evil plans yet thank goodness. And Handy would unleash hell on earth the second he even came close.
