Epilogue
So the first ever interaction I had with these guys was when i was in attendance of the Metal Hammer Golden Gods 2018 where they happened to win one! Well if that wasn’t motivation to check them out then I don’t know what is. Lovebites hail from Tokyo at the heart of Japan, however only a mere 2 and a bit years ago! In this time they have been very busy as this is already album number 2 and they also have 2 EP’s to their name already, not surprising they won best new band with a work ethic like this.
So first natural comparison from their homeland of Japan for me would be to Dir En Grey or Babymetal, now the chaotic nature of Dir En Grey is in there but nowhere near on the same scale or dark natured and the only thing really you could take from Babymetal is the sense of melody and feminine vocal lines. What is in there is some exceptional guitarwork likely to be found in the same region of which power metal like early age Dragonforce with some classic heavy metal twists, the symphonic elements you would find within the likes of Within Temptation or Nightwish mostly surrounding the vocals. The end result is absolutely phenomenal I mean “Pledge of the Saviour” is full of energy and impressive technique, it's nice to see another female group really come forward and stick their middle fingers up to any sexists out there. “We the United” is another amazing one up there that y’all need to get time to indulge in because the way they use the soft tones behind the fast tempo makes for a really nice listening experience.
Clear to see why they won an award at the Golden Gods because they are very much deserving of it. Their material is something that you don’t see by an all female group very often let alone a Japanese one, there is a genuine feel about it, no gimmicks no false just a group of ladies that produce some cracking rock and metal music.
