23. If they were a scented candle, what would they smell like?

Yankee Candle makes one called Sage & Citrus and I think that's pretty darn close. This is how they describe it on the site: earthy sage, luxurious talc and lemon-lime but I would say it's got a botanical sort of spice that is fresh and also somewhat heady if you get a good snootful of it.

34. How they react when they are feeling X emotion (sad, angry, excited, scared, etc.—can specify as many as you like)

I think, depending on the depth and type of the sadness, he would retreat somewhere to process it on his own. For really profound sadness, he'd go quiet, but still get the job done. He's not one to let it come out sideways as another emotion--you're going to know he's sad--but he's not going to mope.
