MORTY'S BIRTHDAY ASKS || Accepting till Monday !
@clone-ur-rick sent: "My Morty is spending his birthday as a tree so uh, hope you've got your shit together a lot more than he does."
That was the first thought that crossed Morty's mind when that Hologram Rick spoke to him. Even if the man hadn't hinted at another Morty, one he got to call his own, it would have been quite obvious that this version of his grandfather wasn't linked to C-137. Unfortunately, he remembered far too well how that Death Crystals ordeal went down and what happened to their Hologram Rick.
There was no way he could have somehow come back from that.
In any case, the knowledge didn't really help him understand what was happening and why it was happening. The words he had been addressed weren't exactly flattering, so it was fair to assume that there was hostility behind them, right?
"Uh, I-I'm not a tree, so..." He pointed out, even if his tone was as skeptical as his expression.
There were more words he had meant to say, but they got stuck in his throat before he could voice them. He didn't want to provoke the man, in case the hologram had no intention of attacking him to start with.
"I-I'm sorry that your Morty didn't...figure his shit out, b-but that doesn't mean we all can't do it. I-I did. Also...y-you should know that my Rick doesn't like it when random Ricks show up uninvited. J-Just saying."
Was it an implicit threat? Maybe, but it was mostly to keep that new version of his grandfather from trying anything. Hopefully, it would have pissed him off enough to make his leave.
