Closet Check part 2, Bottoms: Slacks, Skirts, and Jeans
This Sunday, I was one of the approximately 45% of dietetic internship applicants that got matched. Months of high nerves, stress, and general fretting had come to an end and I was ecstatic. I confirmed and accepted my match by calling my new internship director and will begin in August. After not-seriously looking at places to live (I'll have to move, and no one is posting August availability yet) and things to do in my future city, I turned my mind to my clothing.
On the DI program's page, it estimates that we'll have to pay around $75 for shoes. I have yet to find out if this means we're required to buy a certain brand of shoes, which may just put a crimp in my "Buy only USA made clothing" goal for the year. I'm hoping that we'll be told a general style of shoe to buy and then be left to buy our own.
For a DI, professional or business clothing is a must. This really isn't a problem for me, as I've worked in various healthcare settings and currently work in an office. I've got plenty of slacks and professional looking skirts that I can make work in an office/hospital setting. (Although, I'll probably rarely wear skirts during the DI.) Still, I have the feeling that I'll need to buy a couple more slacks and maybe another skirt. And on the casual side, my jeans are beginning to look like they're about to rip, so I should get at least one pair of jeans before moving and cut up my current ones for crafts. So I decided to do a Closet Check while I was assessing my current professional clothing.
Sadly, not a single one of my slacks is made in the US. I prefer to buy my slacks at one particular store found in most malls, as I'm on the skinny side and I'm relatively tall, and finding pants that fit is always hard. I also buy my jeans at the same store and it turns out that none of my jeans are made in the US. My guess is that nothing in that store is made in the US.
Of my skirts, not counting the three I made, I have three that are made in the US. The brands for those are:

Not much better, but at least it's something.
I'll need to get at least one more black slacks, one more grey slacks, one more black or grey skirt (I honestly can't say I have much of a color scheme beyond that for professional wear) and then one pair of jeans so I can cut up most of my current jeans.
