I'm going to start by saying that I really love this dress, and the designer too! Because of communication issues with my emails, all of their updates were one on one for me, which gave some opportunity for chatting that I really appreciate :) they’re located in France, and the items are all made by hand by them. This is they’re debut line.
I got the size 3 in tall length, the biggest and longest size offered. The 3 different length options were a feature I tho ught was very nice, expecially for taller Lolita's like myself, and while the size range capping out at 120cm bust and 90cm waist may not be the most expansive plus sized options, I think it's a good sign for future options beyond the debut line. The dress was available in cotton or velveteen, and since I was going through a velvet phase at time, that's what I went with, California weather be damned!
For me, the sizing is perfect! I'm at 115cm and 86cm, and the dress feels very comfortable, with room to stretch if need be. It slipped on over the head easily, and has a fully shirred back, adjustable shoulder straps (2 options), and detatchable velveteen waist ties. The dress feels sturdy and has a good weight to it without being heavy, which in my opinion give a bit of an old school look with how it hangs heavier on petticoats. You'd probably have to layer petticoats or use a hoop skirt to get a really puffy look!
The embroidered appliques are adorable! They're machine embroidered from what I can tell. I really like the ladder lace trims on the skirt and collar, and the white lace seem to be a white cotton, not off-white. The appearance on the outside is very clean, but on the interior there are spots with stray threads and askewed stitches. This doesn't particularly bother me, as I know it's handmade and the designers first attempt, and something even warned about on the preorder page, but does seem worth mentioning.
The preorder was in February, and was originally set to mail out in June - however, obviously I just got the dress now. There were a few stumbles along the way - the tarrifs certainly didn't help near the end! - however there was communication about the delays that were transparent and encouraged feedback, the first email being sent in June, and another every month since. It's something I really appreciated, since it's easy for time to pass on preorders without hearing anything and being left wondering and worrying. As an apology, they included a little art print, which went straight into my wall! From our conversations, they’re going to move towards ready-to-ship items for a bit before her next preorder series. It sounds like they learned a lot!
Overall, I'm glad I took a glad I took a chance on this design, and while I can't wear it without getting heatstroke right, I'm excited to play around with it come Winter and see what Yule comes up with next.
