Hello and welcome to wild shit that went down at camp part 2!
the water bottle + air conditioner venture, which spawned one of the biggest camp memes, "just tape it to the ac"!
Essentially, camp provided us with a shit ton of bottled water and left it in the hall
each room just nabbed entire packs of the stuff and hid them away
but heres the thing: For those of you that have never been to china, especially in summer, its hot af all fucking day and all fucking night.
as a bunch of americans, we were all used to cold water and less extreme temperatures with less humidity. but cold water costs extra in china, and that wasn't how we wanted to spend our money
thus, the water bottle + air conditioner venture
it started with two of the boys.
they took some of the clothes hangers that we had been provided, and twisted them up to hold water bottles while attached to the ac. then they turned the ac on
within the hour: ice-cold water and like ten bottles of the stuff
so
the rest of us wanted it
but before it could be installed in all the rooms, the karen that had accompanied us found one of the clotheshangers
she freaked
we were on a field trip at the time and she took on look at her phone and went "WHO DREW ON THE FLOOR", mostly cause the pic was bad quality
but we get back, she sees the clotheshanger, and starts going off about how the school was hosting us, giving us these things and we damage it like that
it got to the point where they sat us all in the auditorium and had the adults talk at us for like an hour about respect
the one parent that tried to stick up for us was overruled
but then!
the two boys who started the whole thing bought some tape
they found the strongest points on the ac
more water was now being cooled, and in every room. The towels were for maximum cooling
then the karen struck again: "THE SCHOOL INSTALLED THOSE ACS JUST FOR YOU! YOU COULD BREAK THEM DOING THAT! THIS IS ATROCIOUS" honestly, woman, do you think we're that bad like bruh
so the towels and the water bottles were taken down
we were instructed to only run the ac at the lowest setting (NOT GOOD ENOUGH) and to only run it when we were in the room
from then on we could only put the water bottles on the top bunk, angle the ac down, and hope for cold water
but also, whenever a problem arose, we would look at each other, and then, as though sharing a brain cell, go "Just tape it to the ac"
as for the karen, she took her kid and her kid's friend and left halfway through the trip, a cause for celebration. However the reason was that her dad broke his hip and then we felt kind of bad for cheering but her kid and the friend were serious bitches so
and he got better
