         as soon as that stupid carny implied KATHERINE should go get her little boyfriend to win her a prize, the girl pulled out all the stops. to think, she started playing this game because she thought it was fun, cute even. however, now she was fueled by pure rage and spite, wasting ticket after ticket just to win the rigged game. by her last ticket, she still had no luck.

       still determined, she turned to the person next to her. “ let me borrow one ticket, ” her tone impatient. it seemed like a wasted effort, but katherine plumber never backed down so easily. “ c’mon ... i’ll owe you one ! i’ll repay you, just ... help me out this once ... ”

“Hello? Do you know who I am? I am Katherine Pierce! People send me free crap just for existing. I am a trend. I have so many followers that it’s not even a readable number anymore and I will not be questioned by you, Bar Boy---” she slammed her hand down on the bar for extra emphasis. She had a second part of her semi-drunken speech planned about how she was also the myth, the legend, the most ruthless and well dressed vampire of her time but he wasn’t having any of it and instead left the bottle, like she had originally requested. Well, that was that.

She took a generous swig before spinning to face the nearest bystander (customer, victim) and pointed at them. “You! Do you DANCE?”

Mia could hear her own heart pumping, walking quickly and peering in every direction, she kept wringing the leash and harness in her hands. “Trouble, here baby. Trouble, I promise not to be mad if you come back.” The promise was empty and they both knew it but the fates shined in her favor as she spotted the soot coloured cat peering out from behind a tree further up. Sprinting forward, she had to wind around the tree twice before she caught the slippery cat, cursing.

Slipping her into the harness as the cat complained very vocally, she scolded her between trying to catch her breath. “You wouldn't have to wear this if you just didn't run out the door. We've talked about this, strays and outdoor cats are vulnerable to diseases and- hey, watch those claws- and predators and are doing real damage to the ecosystem. You agreed to be an indoor cat when I took you in, you signed the same contract as me, missy!” It wasn't until the grumbling cat was securely fastened in and she straightened that she realized someone was close enough to hear her huffing at the cat. “Oh god.” She covered her red face, back leaning against the tree. “Any chance you didn't hear any of that?”

OPEN STARTER FOR: anna of arendelle setting: starcourt mall, early evening.

             the memories dreams were getting more and more vivid for ANNA. one in particular stuck with her ; one about feeling so cold, she swore she froze completely solid. even thinking about it sent a shiver down her spine. it was the beginning of summer, and there were moments not even the sun on the brightest day could warm her. it’s like the chill was coming from inside herself. looking at one of the displays, she pulled her jacket tight against her. was it the a.c. this time? or just her? turning to the closest person, she asked, “ hey ! is it a bit chilly in here ??? ”

“Da-... Han-... Lieutenant...” Connor’s face scrunched up slightly as he struggled with what to call Hank. He already had twenty eight years worth of memories of Hank being his father, and now suddenly he had memories of him being his partner, his friend, and his enemy all at once. Connor couldn’t make sense of it. “Hi Lieutenant. It’s me. Connor. I-... I’m at our usual table at Rousseau’s and-... If you get this can you meet me here? Or call?” There was another long pause. “Please...” He hung up the phone and returned to his glass of bourbon, his hand just swirling the drink that he hadn’t touched for the last hour.

the lighthouse was easily one of adora’s favorite places on the island. it was so high and gave such a great view of everything around that she never grew tired of being up at the top, resting after a run and climbing the steps. usually she was able to sit by herself for a bit and just take in the perfect weather and sight of the town, but this morning she was joined by another person. “ oh, sorry. ” she smiled as she made her way to the railing, leaning against it. “ I didn’t think anyone else would be here... it’s normally quiet this early. ” she sighed, looking out across the town. “ isn’t it just... beautiful ?? ”

jack had just finished cleaning the last of the glasses behind the bar when the door jangled, signaling another patron. it was a slow night, so he was glad at least someone was coming in -- otherwise, he’d be sitting here alone and killing time. and without a decent pencil or paper, he couldn’t even sketch something, though he wouldn’t have minded the break. he smiled at them easily as he leaned on the bar. “ welcome in, what can I getcha ?? ”

gansey paused outside of the hotel, hands in his pockets. one was messing with the car key he’d received from the pawn shop, another mystery he’d yet to unravel -- why he would have a car key with no car to go to ?? it seemed redundant, but it was similar to this hotel in front of him: something drew him to it. he couldn’t pin what it was, even as he stood outside and admired the architecture of the building and ran his finger over the ridges of the key in his pocket. it felt like the simplest thing to figure out, but it was always just out of reach. He looked over at the person stopped next to him before his eyes drifted to the building again. “ have you ever felt... drawn to something ?? ” he asked, not looking away. “ even though you can’t figure out what it is that’s pulling you there ?? ”
